I recorded an MTV special in the late 80s that had quite a few Cure music videos (when MTV played them) along with interviews with Robert Smith. If anyone knows which one I'm talking about and how I can get a copy today I would be more than grateful (lost the copy on tape).

I think that was Rockumentary. There were quite a few of those specials on at that time. I don't have it anymore either and I have no idea how to get it. If you find it, let us know how.

I actually think I've seen Rockumentary on a bootlegged DVD somewhere...hmmmmm....shall have to look around some for that

i might just have it (a dvd made from the video). i think that's the one where simon is wearing the same docs as i was wearing at the time (which i found absolutely thrilling).

yea, i have rocumentary (92') and 120 minutes (90') as a dvd copied from a vhs. they both play a bunch of cure vids. 120 minutes seems to be promoting never enough & rocumentary seems to be promoting wish

god, they were so gorgeous.

there's also the vh1 (ray cokes?) special in 96'
that's the one where rsx wears his (in) famous black shirt - that he's still wearing today.

Actually I'd like a copy also. I can pay of course if need be. As soon as I get my capture device, I'm going to make DVDs of Show, Live in Japan, In Orange, and whatever else I can get a hold of. I finally got a new computer, so now I just need a new capture device to transfer my VHS.

i have an orange dvd coming in the post, im well excited. my first cure dvd boot (not including the mtv icons one the lovely midnight sent me )

There was a special episode of 120 Minutes done back in 1990. The entire 2 hours was nothing but Robert talking about old Cure videos. Think he was wearing a flower print shirt and was sitting in front of a TV. Must have been an eye opening experience for him.

Actually, if I remember correctly, there are 2 MTV Documentaries featuring the Cure. The fist was done back in 1989. The band was interviewed during the filming of the "Lullaby" video. And the second was done in 1992. The second one had each band member sitting on a bed talking about the band.

yea, i remember the cure show from '89 too -
it had footage of them coming off the QEII (because rsx was afraid to fly). he and his wife were walking up the dock when mtv accosted them. rsx was wearing his hair down (in a pony tail) & they made such a gorgeous couple.

i would give my left-arm for a copy of that show.
i wouldn't have thought to tape it - that was near the end of my serious druggy phase, and i didn't care about much... and i remember even less. but i do remember that tv show.

he was so handsome, now he is a matron in a moomoo, yeah I know we'd still do him in a heartbeat.Simon still brings the sexy tho, for old times sake. Roberta and Godlis went to Tokyo yesterday morning so will miss all the closing festivities on the weekend. That's why I tried to take pics lastnite, hope they come out and have contacts now who took a few too.
