looks like the dvd that rsx blew off the new cd for is going to be released on dec 5 here stateside (20 nov in europe). a bunch of european festival appearances featuring crappy footage shot by the fans themselves! i guess they ain't getting any younger/prettier. it'd prolly be cool if you were lucky enough to be @ one of the shows.
on 2nd thought, i hate festivals.
heat, overflowing porta-pottys, e-coli festival food, $10 beer, walking through 50,000 ppl's bodily fluids & waste.
I don't think I'll be spending the precious little expendable cash I have on this thing. Maybe it would be interesting to get to see the festival without having to deal with the heat, the SMELL, or the portopotties, but seriously, I don't have the money to fund my music habit this year. Hopefully this is just a little thing to tide collectors over while this pursuit of a double album takes shape.

that was coming out in April? I fear I'll be collecting social security by the time it's out. not to mention his supposed personal record. LOL, gotta love the guy he makes us work for it.

the cure should've broken up in 2000 so they wouldn't keep embarrassing themselves like they have the past few years.
Trilogy was their one saving grace. The last album (one of their very worst) saw Robert turn into a complete record-company whore ("heaviest" my ass). And perhaps the clearest indication of The Cure's recent downturn: airing Plainsong without keyboards....blasphemy at its most profane. I cringe to hear the new album.

yea, i was pretty impressed w/ trilogy - and i'm not known for holding back. even though it's multiple discs, it seems like it's only 15mins long, that's how good it is.
but, i kind'a thought the last album was crap too...
but that doesn't mean the cure are crap. THEY'RE STILL BRILLIANT! (in my estimate).
i mean, all said & done, i think rsx worried so much about how the (last) record would be accepted by teenagers - he cocked it up. the songs he threw-away were the best part! it was odd that, @ this late stage, rs worried himself w/ what others might think/say/do, when he put the record together(?)
isn't that what made the original alternative scene, alternative? artists had the testicular fortitude (balls) to give the recording industry the finger and record what they wanted, not what they thought a certain demographic wanted...
sigh-h-h-h-h...
i have high hopes for the next cd.
and, thank you for making me laugh, anon. (i enjoyed your cynicism).
