hi! I'm going to buy some cd's tomorrow and It would be great if you could help me cuz I'm a bit confused. I don't have any cds by the cure yet and I want to buy disintegration....any other you think i should get?? I'm not buying the whole collection tomorrow lol but maybe two or three....
kisses

for my money, the best are faith and pornography, but those two are very dark and not poppy. if you want the poppier side, i'd recommend kiss me and head on the door (or maybe wish, if you like some more guitar-heavy numbers). staring at the sea should give you a good overview of the early (better) singles.

pornography and the head on the door are the bands best albnums and will give you a good over view of what they can achieve when doing dark music 9pornography) and poppier stuff (the head)
I always think as a new fan one should get their "best of" cds. That way you'll be able to have a good idea of what they are like without having to be commited to just one album style. I suggest "GALORE" or "STANDING ON A BEACH" or "GREATEST HITS".

Kiss Me was the first Cure album I bought way way back in 1987! DAMN! Where does the time go?!

With the possible exception of the Top, anything from Wish/WMS to before is a good choice. I would not recomend anything after WMS. Even if certain songs are great, the albums themselves are not taken together good. Those albums should only be purchased by someone wanting to have all of the albums and certainly not ones to get first.
Well...........I can not recommend Bloodflowers or Disintegration to anyone. But that's just me.

the later albums are overrated wank. you won't find a better pair than Faith and Pornography. full stop. and anyone recommending WMS should be tried for crimes against humanity.
I have to say disintegration is just...perfect...i can't really find the right words to describe it...

I completely agree. Along with Pornography and Faith, Disintegration is The Cure at its purest state….

for my 2 cents, Faith, Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers. Pure, solid Cure. Turn out the lights, light up a candle or two, and for god's sake if it's raining open your windows and crank it up.
in all honesty, the BEST Cure albums are the ones that speak to you, regardless of anyone else's opinion, be it good or bad. And we Cure fans are a looney bunch sometimes. We are diehards about our faves and (lovingly)argue constantly i plan to be buried with a copy of Disintegration, cause i don't know where i'm going, but i'm taking The Cure with me! so buy all the records, pick your best and shelf the rest.
Man one day I just want to have this conversation drunk at a bar with an unlimitless supply of Cure music to back our claims to each other one by one...
