right, this has always baffled me. why is/was robert smith's nickname fat bob when the guy isn't/wasn't fat?!?!

i think its because of his ability to gain and loose wt very easily. i remember seeing a magazine in the UK with his pic on the cover and he was huge! and he looked horrible but then a year later wish came out and he looked normal. so he had been fat(or bigger) but he looses it as the tour goes on then he gains it back.

i dont like the nick name fat bob. its not very nice to call ppl bob.

the baggy clothes serve a practical purpose.

i think siouxsie originally referred to him as fat bob.

he isnt that big now but at one point he had been eating a few too many cakes

Siouxsie called him "Fat Boy Smith". Think the quote was "The only thing Fat Boy Smith did was play guitar". (Or something like that....)

I believe it was the English press that coined the "Fat Bob" phrase.

They also have called him "Mad Bob".

But where they get the "mad" bit I dunno.
