hi,

i'm new to this site, but am a long-time cure fan. i sadly believe i am the only one within a 50-mile radius from where i live (haverhill, ma). i'd love to meet fellow cure fans (preferably over 25 years old). i'm 30, you know where i'm from, and i've been a fan of the cure since "disintegration." okay, thanks for listening.

i didn't mean i was old- lol

June 10 2007, 11:20 AM

i didn't mean that i am old by saying i am 30- in fact, i am young for a cure fan seeing as though they've been around for the past 30 years. what i meant was that i'd like to find some fellow cure fans in the same age-range as me (i.e., not someone for whom "wild mood swings" was not their earliest introduction to the cure. basically, someone living in my area!! the online thing is good and all, but it would be nice to meet people in the flesh, you know?

From a Cure Fan

June 12 2007, 2:02 PM

Hi Kristina,
I've been a Cure fan for 20 years. I've been to a few great concerts and love his looks and music. I used to get a letter through to Robert once via Janie, who lived in Northolt, Middlesex, England. She passed my letters on to him, and once while he was touring South America about 10 years ago, he wrote me a couple of letters, which I treasure and get out and read sometimes.
It would be nice to hear from you.

Kind wishes

Angela Binns

Hello.. i dont live in MA , just wanted to say i have been a fan since 1981 when i purchased the double cassette "happily Ever after" so that is a pretty long time. Where ever the cure fans are its like a big family no matter what age they get turned on to them. I am in the same boat.. wondering if any in Minnesota are fans of the cure too. keeping my hopes on high...

wow, that's cool that robert smith wrote to you! i actually wrote him a letter once because a friend of mine had gotten front-row seats to a show and was also somehow finagling backstage access. didn't work out though. i've been a fan since '89 (disintegration). i've been to a few shows, too, and they were amazing.

thanks for sharing!

any cure fans nearby?

No one from Texas? Dallas-Fort Worth area? When I think about it, age really doesn’t matter when it comes to obsessions like the cure…at least not for me….

I like this site, but man it would be great to have a friend nearby that feels captivated by the cure....

Melbourne

June 19 2007, 12:50 PM

well, i am 46 so that makes me pretty old i think. I saw The Cure in a small venue in 1984 i think it was (ANU Refectory, Canberra, Australia). It was very loud but i loved it...particularly when the played "Primary". I am seeing them again on August 12th when they visit Melbourne !!
Anybody out there going to the Melbourne gig?

RE: to antarctica and australia fans

June 20 2007, 7:39 PM

hey that is too cool! i like that idea a long standing fan. i am not from antarctica but minnesota and we can get just as cold and frigid too!! and happy to see one from australia that is about my age (me 45 yrs). if and when they tour North America this early fall i hope they swing to the midwest. hey, i am willing to go to the coasts if necessary. robert smith has been the founding member since 1977-79 so 30 years time is a very good thing!!

Hello All

June 21 2007, 12:19 AM

I am not in MA, but in NC and I do think I am the only person here that is a Cure fan. I think I am young too for a cure fan, I am 29. I have seen them 5 times and the best one was the first time in OH. It was my 18th b-day and a friend got us tickets, after the show we stood outside in the pooring rain just for the chance to meet them. The cops ran everyone off after an hour. So being down we went to the Waffle House to eat, a little while after a tour bus pulled up at the BP gas station next door. The door opened an out walked The Cure, I got up out of my seat and ran over to them. They where very nice to us took pictures signed our shirts and Robert told me happy birthday. At that point I did pass out hit my head on the gas pump and had 5 stitches. It was well worth it! I am glad I got to share my story and I hoped you liked it. I know only Cure fans could dig this! Hope to talk to more of you soon.

That's a funny story Marisa! I met him but I didn't faint. I'm in Southern California and my family is from all over the US. I've been posting here for a little over three years to meet Cure friends. Now I have real friends from this board. But I haven't posted for a while. The whole Asslee thing really made me weary of anything other than Thecure.com. Well thanks for posting:)

where from?

June 25 2007, 4:24 AM

I'm 39, an unrepentant Cure addict for the last 20. Have been to four Cure shows starting in 1987, all in Texas. Filthypit, you write from Virginia Beach, where are you planning to see them? I have just moved to Delaware and will either go the the DC or Philadelphia concert. My husband doesn't like the Cure and I don't know anyone here yet, so I'm hoping to find some other Cure fans to meet up with before one of the shows.

My biggest Cure regret was "almost" meeting them when they did an in-store appearance to promote the Top tour. I hadn't really started listening to them yet and didn't think it worth the bother to go. Later on I would wind up dating the (former) manager of the record store where they had done the meet-&-greet. When I planned to see them in concert in 1987 he refused to help me get a backstage pass, saying "you have to watch out for those Cure guys". To this day I can only guess what he meant ...

Hi Kristina

June 29 2007, 12:55 AM

Hi Kristina,

I work in Beverly MA and live in North Reading, and I just found out about the tour dates. I didn't realize the tickets go on sale this Saturday. I'm err...old...just turned 41. I definitely want to go, but I don't want to go alone. If you're interested in a cure buddy, lemme know . Send me an email and we can figure something out if you're interested.

Take care,

Marc

Wow filth, I'm jealous. I've always wanted to follow them around but the one night is all the time off I could get. That's the advntage of a school schedule...summers off...but then you have to make up for it in the fall by having your nights occupied by study or a 2nd job...

I'm going to the show in DC and starting to feel nervous because there is still NO news on the Patriot Center site or any word about presale. Are we SURE that it's going to happen?

Hi!

July 2 2007, 2:39 AM

Hi Kristina! I am also new to this group and have been a Cure fan since I was 13. I am now 32! I come from NYC. There are quite of few Cure fans in NYC but you have to look hard. The only "Rockers" I see in my 'hood are of the younger set and they listen to Good Charlotte, Linkin Park etc. By the way, I got tix to see The Cure at Madison Square Garden on Sept 23!!!! So psyched!
Welcome to the group!
