w/ the cure tour '08 scheduled to begin real soon, and no cd release date in sight, one has to wonder, are the lads gonna pull a radiohead and release ther next cd for free online?

radiohead released their latest cd online & prompted downloaders to pay "whatever they think it's worth" they had 1.2 million downloads & even with the freeloaders, they made an average profit of $2.36per cd, which is a heck of a lot more than any record deal they ever had...

can the cure pull-off the same numbers?
well, in the states alone, they sell hundreds of thousands of concert tickets on one tour. and, they seem to maintain a core base of obcessive fans who remain loyal w/ little or no record label support, so... w/ record stores falling like flies & the only advantage of having a contract w/ a label being distribution & promotion (the cure needs neither), who needs a stink'n contract?!

the only thing their current contract has gotten them is a particularly hideous record (the last one) and website management ~ and lord knows, w/ posts like "licking the clitoris of jesus" the website is worth it alone (w/ sarcasm).

so, can the cure pull off a radiohead & release the new cd online?

thought their contract was for if they make another album....
they would have to use geffen or griffen or whatever....

it would be cool and would be more of a prof for them but the sound quality wouldnt be as good as cd or vinyl. not that im expecting this album to sound good or anything

actually I think the last one was the first album of a three album deal with Iam or whoever the hell they signed up with after finally breaking out of their last contract.

I think this could be the last studio album for The Cure. They could do a live album of the upcoming tour and complete their three record obligation. Which may be why they are taking their own sweet time.
