Re: Wembley tonight!

March 21 2008, 4:18 AM

Just got home - fooooooooooooooooking amazing gig!!!!! I was 2nd row from the front and Robert and the band looked and sounded great - Simon looked at me twice I think, he looked very brooding as usual, and Porl went all out on his outfit - what a guitar player - he's a marvel to watch, Jason was there in the back sweating and working his arse off on them drums - what a great drum player that dude is!
Oh and the supporting act 65 Days Of Static I liked, very intense sound to them and quite different - hope they have future success cos I think they deserve it.

So it was sweaty, hot and pushy in the 'pit' and the crowd were well into it, and Robert was a gem to watch as always, few girls had to be hauled out of the front, it really got a bit too much about 2 hours in for them I think - it was very sweaty and pushy though!

They did Love Cats which was a major surprise to me and got the whole arena bouncing around - Robert looked like he was really enjoying himself!

The openers Plainsong and Prayers For Rain were awesome - Plainsong nearly had me in tears - its never sounded so beautiful with those whirling guitars and then with Rob's words - wow!! and Prayers For Rain was dreamy and intoxicating as it could ever be - Rob's 'prayers for rain' scream was loud and intense and the song really created a great atmosphere!

To Wish Impossible Things was a really nice surprise and it sounded excellent - fucking love this song!

Wrong Number was a bit of dudd for me, never really liked the song, it sounded good live but still the crowd seemed a bit flat with it.

Primary and Pictures of You were awesome, Primary had heaps of energy and I was so stoked to hear them play it!

As for the 3 new songs, A Boy I Never Knew is amazing - had me transfixed on Robert and the way he sings it with such passion and emotion it really resonated with me and the rest of the crowd it seemed - think its the best song they've done in ages. As for the other two I think Freak Show is fun but Please Project is a tad dull - just sounds all too familiar to me and the crowd didnt respond too well to it me thinks.

A Forest was out of this world, never heard it sound so good and the crowd around me was going spastic, as was I!!

Close To Me and WCIBY were fun as always!!

And the closing encore of TIB-era was great, especially the way Jumping Someone Elses Train changed into Grinding Halt with Rob's build in of 1-2-3-4!!!

So a really amazing night, better than the Royal Albert gig 2 years ago, better setlist and better crowd!! Love Song I think needed some sort of synth it sounded a little empty and flat to me, but Lullaby really didnt - it sounded fresh and way more creepy without the keys and just the guitars - I bounced about merrily to that one.

All in all, it was one hell of a night! As the band left the stage Robert paraded slowly and respectively around the stage looking at and thanking the crowd everyone going wild at him - I love that man, he's such a fucking God and I reached out as far as my arms could go! Robert the saviour!!

THE CURE FOREVER!!!!

Re: Wembley tonight!

Last night was incredible, Robert just gets better with age, like a good wine! And Simon still has a truly amazing body, his muscles move beautifully as he plays his guitar.
We arrived late cos of the fucking traffic and roadworks on the motorway, at one point I thought we would totally miss the show, but we made it as Prayers for Rain was playing. I love that song, sends shivers down my spine. We were in standing and did manage to push quite a way forward to get a good view. Wembley Arena is so fucking big, I generally hate stadium shows but Rob made me forget where I was and the audience were great - yep very pushing and shoving as Jonno said, I saw a few people being dragged out from where we were a bit further back, although a couple looked more like they'd gone wrong on drugs.
Love Cats was a great surprise to me too, first time I ever heard this played live and it went down really well with the crowd. The new numbers didn't seem to get such an enthusiatic response, but it is always difficult doing new stuff live. Polite response but not such as was given for the older stuff.
The set list for me was near perfect, lots of classic faves. And great to see Robert looking so happy and healthy - I've never seem him bounce around quite so much!

Re: Wembley tonight!

MIDNIGHT

what I meant was the drumming section at the last 30 seconds of Jumping Someone Else's Train then kinda molds quickly into the beginning of Grinding Halt, Rob goes 1-2-3-4 and the guitar riff starts and you start bouncing even more!!! Haha!

Oh my God - what a gig man! Still wish they'd done The Figurehead but hey you can't have everything can you!

Shit!

You guys are in for a real treat. It was so nice to see them opening with Plainsong rather than say Open which they were doing throughout '05' and 06 - knew they were gonna cos of the blue lights before they came on stage, and then the chimes was my comfirmation! Plainsong really does sound amazing live, and I prefer it this way to the synth way!

They may change the setlist slightly for the US tour, hey we didnt even get Fascination Street much on the European setlist which is strange huh - I think they've done that song at every gig since 1989!!

And I think it would be nice to hear the songs you dont hear so much, such as Short Term Effect or Siamese Twins - more from the Porno album would be great eh!!

But man - Wembley rocked!

At It Again Robert!!!

3/15/2008 2:30:38 AM - by RobertIsALyingRat

Here we go to get shot down in flames but i'm going to
say it. Robert is up to his old tricks again.
This is from a French forum
with a couple of fans being at the airport and same flight as the band. Hope they don't mind me quoting them here, sorry guys if you do.

Two fans see them at airport take pics, then told after pics were to be hushed up.
Guess why? Robert was with a
girlfriend. Loyal, married,
dedicated Robert with a gf.
............................
Quote bad translation here:
Hello Hello Super surprise indeed! And it is nothing compared with what has pssé after photos, but hey, no right to speak, Bill bought exclusivity and my silence at the same time! Good but there has been an AFTER photos!

Quote:It is true that there was an after, and it is especially that this was magic ...
Just prior to speak, we just want to say well neuneu was on the plane, has observed the slightest movement has the front of the camera ...
Examples:
Robert has done two pictures with a girlfriend before boarding,
Michael told me not to talk to a Robert entering the plane, but perhaps later (spinning him a booklet CreaCure coup ...)
Robert recoiffe with hands in the hair, just before the aircraft off,
Robert window is a symbol, an empty seat, worse michael coast corridor
Michael make photos to a MAC and laughs, it reads the newspaper ...
Porl is go to the toilet,
Simon wears a red T-shirt, and her mouth,
The smiling hostess are super,
.............................

So there we have it, Michael
the bodyguard buying back the "after" pics to save grace for his majesty. On to the mac they go, no one needs to know right!?! It's
funny though did the same thing when he let journos take mum and his pic, only it was mum that stopped him and told him to buy them back. She didn't think it was fair when he hadn't "sorted" things at home yet. So why the secrecy Robert planning
on doing the same thing again
with another victim? Only this time not as bad only "fans" that spotted you trying to duck and dive. Seems like the buying the evidence back these days is your forte. I know alot, i asked, mum told me and you still didn't answer my question.

End note to whoever he was with be careful he'll do the same to you, i could put money on it. He'll never explain it either the way mum and me were left in limbo.

He's a predator hope this girl reads here, your not the first and you won't be the last that's for sure.

Someone warned my mum about him at the start, someone he
worked with in the past. But Robert said they were just jealous always trying to ruin things for him. I won't name her cause that wouldn't be fair. I'm pretty sure you'd all know who she is. Mum was told to take good care of herself it was
almost as if the same thing had been done to this woman as well. I don't know for sure but she seemed to know his methods.

Of course mum thought she was loved and had a future, she said he's a convincing
liar. So it goes on, is there
any end to your cruelty Robert??? A sorry might at least be a start. Think what you want i really don't care. I only care about my mum who's taught me not to be like you, so that can only be good, right!?!

well, when robert hooked up with MYYYY mom, he treated her very well!

he took her out dancing every night (well...she was a stripper, and he was the patron...but there was dancing involved...)

he took her out on the town. (it was a very small town...of only about 100 residents...but it is a town...)

he brought her flowers every night. (the neighbors got pissed when they found him raviging through their gardens...but whatever...)

see...he is a very nice, considerate guy!!!

and he would never treat a groupie...i mean girlfriend poorly! never!!!

yea, i hear ya!

but, i bet he's got a 22y/o towing the line... they always do (old rockstar syndrome).
just the thought of some skinnyMTVskank having to crawl over his big-hairy-belly to get 'where the action is' is pretty hilarious!

to be honest, i'm only a few yrs behind him & you don't think of yourself as others do. i don't feel like i'm... 39 & holding, so why should he feel his age? and i would totally do robyn hitchcock, grey hair & all!!

sad, old,

O my this is all too funny!

You know I'd love to get him alone for a night, although I wouldn't be doing much but making his sing (for reals not in a heat of passion sing.HA! you know my own personal concert) I am a married woman and although he's been on my top 5 list for decades (and my hubby and I have an agreement about our top 5), I don't think I could anymore.

I would be a perfect night though to just be alone with him and his voice!

hmmm...put on a concert at the roxy....(a smaller venue here in hollywood) it only holds a couple of hundred people...and i would invite all of my cure friends from around the globe (robert is paying for everyones flight and accomidations of course...) to a show of hand picked songs, voted on here at CA, my only demands are that he do burn, halo, and that he do all of the hand motions when he sings im a little teapot!

Re: Wembley tonight!

March 25 2008, 1:25 AM

i think his best era was the late 80s...but still, i never would ...ummm...yeah...

heres my theory: he is one of the most amazing people to ever live. he has created things (songs, lyrics, emotions in me) that nobody else will ever be able to create. so since i have him on a pedestal, i would never do anything to ruin my perception of him, to bring him down to a level of an everyday guy on the street. realisticly, i know that he is human and does everyday, common things, but you see, i dont have to watch him go grocery shopping, or get his hair cut, or go to the doctors...i only see him with his make-up on, hair teased, performing the music that has made me love him for so long. i would never want to ruin that "rockstar image" i have of him!

is that weird???

is it bad that i dont want to humanize him???

please...i welcome feedback! (go ahead...tell me that you think i am psychotic...i can take it!!!)

Totally get what your saying Midnight!

I'd never be able to spit out a hello to the guy let alone do anything more. It would ruin it for me ... when I read that story of the guy who mother "dated" Robert, the first thing that came to mind was how sad I would be if I was her to NOT have this super-being to think of and lust about (a very innocent lust that is). Gosh I think if I met him in person and he treated me like crap that would crush me.

Your not crazy, just protective of your dreams.

i totally get you!

although every single time we (my friends and i) have met him he has been soooo nice and polite. even the first time i met him, when i stood there and made a stuttering idiot out of myself, he politley smiled and continued the conversation. (even though i am sure he was laughing at me on the inside!)

dont ever give up an oppertunity to meet him! he will not destroy your image of him! although...dating him might...so i wouldnt suggest that. LOL!
