It has a cracked Ford V8 in it, but a good engine comes with it to swap in. apart from that it needs work on the blower braces to finsih the replacements I made, and lots of work on the blower rams to refurbish them.
It's virtually complete and currently located in central Scotland, I'm just looking after it till i can find it a deserving home, since most of my collection is Dodge powered, so the SnoGo is being stored warm and dry till someone turns up with enough cash.
After owning her for three years I put the blower gear back in place, fired her up, and drove her blinking into the sunshine.
A US specialist is trying to get me the couple of mechanical spares she needs, but before I fit them or start any work on the three rusty hydrualic rams on the blower gear itself, I found out to day that what I thought was a blob of sealant on the block wall was actually displaced block wall. Instead of just cracking the block the ice has displaced a big chunk of the left bank wall between cylinders 3 and 4, so despite sounding as good as flathead V8s ever do this one will have to come out (even if the block is fixable the crack is right up against the left chassis rail.
Ah well, that spare generator set engine will come in handy after all, Gordon
PS, David H might want to note this is the best survivor of the SUPPLY MECH. 2721 batch.
Well it's been a fun month of work on the snowblower.
Changed the engine for the generator set unit, only to discover I had to change the exhaust manifolds, distributor cap, electrics, and both water pumps too. Of course one of the pumps wont seal so currently although I've run the 'new' engine it's resting on a block of wood waiting for the rebuilt pump to come back.
Cleaned and painted the inside of the cab, replaced kick panels and floor mat, sorted out at least some of the butchered wiring so that the ignition, horn, and lighting systems are now back up again, not to mention sanding down the whole truck and painting it the original olive drab.
Give me another month and I should have the enigine running again, front sheetmetal back of, and the blower head back in place - barring loads of ice, snow, and bad weather, of course.
I reckon re-assembled I'll put her up on Milweb at £3250 so if anyone here wants to make a bid just let me know. I'm definitely NOT selling her to anyone who wants to dump the blower gear and turn her into an ordinary truck - saving the original setup was why I bought her in the first place.
She is now back together and running. Current price is £3250 but I'll raise that a bit as I continue to work on the blower section to get that up to speed too.
