I generally agree with OT's assessment of this film. A few comments I'd like to make:

I didn’t really buy Hanks as a big bad hit man for the mob, but then I've never met one, thankfully, so maybe they don't have to "look" scary, because they actually are. Newman rocked! He should probably retire now, cause it doesn't get any better than that. The flick looked and sounded fantastic. My father was a gun nut, so I know exactly what a colt 45 sounds like and they got it right.

Question: Was I asleep when they mentioned where all this took place? I know they had to drive all night to get to Chicago and they want to get to Perdition at some point, but what town did Newman and Hanks call home?

That's it, peace,

Mev

Where did Tom Hanks Live

I kind of wondered what town "Perdition" took place in too but a few things give an idea.

1. It was revealed by Sam Mendes that it was a small city in the Midwest.

2. In one scene, the background shot shows a business that says - Rock Island depot - or something along those lines. For those that are a little weak in their Midwest geography, Rock Island is a small city in Illinois right on the Mississipi across from Iowa. It is an industrial area and kind of gross so It is very possible that Rock Island is the Sullivan home town.

road to perdition

I don't think they mentioned a specific town in Road to Perdition because it wasn't important to the plot (I'm assuming the writer of the comic book purposely chose not to mention a specific town either, although I readily admit that I did not and have not read the comic book). As for Paul Newman, he SHOULD retire now. This role is a perfect crowning performance. He will be robbed if he does not walk away with an oscar for the role. As for the others I predict nominations across the board - for Tom Hanks, Jude Law and even for Tyler Hoechlin (he carried a huge part of the movie). Anyway, OddTodd - you rock, pal. This is just what I need to get me through my days while being stuck in unemployed land. Peace.
