Some very very terrible movies I've seen:
1. "High Strung" starring Jim Carrey doing idiotic faces
2. "Cutthroat Island" with Geena Davis
3. "Mr. Magoo" with Leslie Nielsen
If you are a complete masochist you will enjoy the previous 3 movies mentioned here. In the past 6 years of renting movies, these three were the worst I've seen. I wonder if anyone has seen these gobs of cinematic fish wank? Have you seen any movies that are worse than these three? In my opinion they definitely belong in the annals of cinematic infamy. Do you have any movies that you feel are so infinitely crap that in your opinion they should be included in the category "worst movies"? I suggest making a list of such movies so that no unwitting movie fan rents them, and thus ends up wasting 60,90 or 120 minutes of his/her precious existence watching them.
Chariots of Fire is the worst movie I've ever seen, and also the most overrated. I know it was quite successful and also critically acclaimed, but that movie was boring, drawn out, and a waste of film.
Another movie I really disliked was "7". It was the acting or anything like that. When the film was over, I really had a hard time figuring out exactly why it was made. To me, that film had absolutely no redeeming qualities to it. I'm sure many enjoyed the twists and horror, but to me it was just plain depressing.
this has to be the absolute worst movie ever. My friend and i wanted a comedy, so we figured "hey, this has adam sandler, why dont we check this out". And the box looked like it was something funny to watch, so we got it. We popped it in, and it was the longest most boring piece of garbage i have ever seen, and i cant forget it. And just so everyone else develops the same mental anguish that i have, i'd like to recommend that you all go and rent this one, please, dont leave me alone....
I'm a HUGE johnny depp fan. I can tell you anything about the man. But I was VERY disappointed in The Man Who Cried. It was confusing, long, and kind of disturbing. When a 38 year old man (johnny) starts doing a 19 year old girl (christina ricc) while she's just sitting in a chair, I start to cringe. That's just not something I want to see.
American President
Chariots of Fire
Chicken Run
Corky Ramano
Cutthroat Island
High Strung
The Man Who Cried
Master of Disguise
Mister Magoo
Seven (7)
I suggest that for a movie to qualify as a worst movie it must be the kind of film that has no redeeming qualities at all. It is sooo bad that after watching 10 or so minutes of it on a DVD or videocasette you want to desperately press rewind or eject. If you are in a theatre you just want to walk out after the first 15 minutes. You feel like the character "Alex" played by Malcolm McDowell in Clockwork Orange who is strapped to a chair in the cinema and forced to watch films which make him violently ill. You may have seen a movie that you found boring and/or too long, but was it so absolutely awful that you simply wanted to terminate the experience (i.e. get up and leave, smash the DVD against a brick wall etc!?) To qualify as a truly "worst" movie it likely would have to be one in which you can honestly say that you didn't chuckle even once, feel in the least bit moved, enjoy the special effects despite it having no plot, or even smile. Well, . . . maybe if it was truly awful you chuckled at yourself for being a sucker and renting the dumb ass movie in the first place, or paying money to see it in a theatre.
C'mon, Se7en was amazing. That was probably one of Spacey's best roles. Another recent thread was discussing how ruthless he was in that role. Se7en has to be taken off this list.
How can you select a Leslie Neilson as one of the worst movies of all times? The man is a comedic genius! I saw him on a golf course in Florida and he was carrying a whoopie cushon around making fart noises! The man is hysterical!
Moderator, I like Leslie Nielsen movies. I too think he's a riot. As a Canadian I take pride in his success and achievements, but Mr. Magoo was a really crap movie. If you have seen it you'll know what I mean. Nothing personal against Mr. Nielsen. I guess he's gotta pay the bills, but the film was so bad that it stunk like a Manitoba skunk. I also chose a movie with Jim Carrey as well. He too is a Canadian. I liked The Truman Show, Ace Ventura Pet Detective I, and The Mask, but he is capable of making movies that are really really lousy. He admitted as much on Larry King when he claimed that "Ace Ventura II" was garbage (or something to that effect). I happen to agree. I turned it off after 20 pained minutes. After the first scene I thought it was going to be a riot. The first scene though was the funniest in the whole movie. Thereafter it just became bad. I think John Candy was a comedic genius, but for every great movie he did he made a bad one. Moderator, if you don't believe me, go rent "Mr. Magoo" and try to sit through it without wanting to press fast forward or rewind.
Christopher Lambert is really cootied.
Check him out in THE DRUIDS. This piece of crap is most deserving as the worst movie of all time. Don't believe me, go rent it and see for yourself. I dare you. =)
Also that hokey western w/Drew Barrymore and Andy MacDowell, "Bad Girls".
I also saw this movie called "Valley Girl" on the late night USA channel. It had some blonde chick as the valley girl and Nicolas Cage as the freaky boy sent in to sweep her off her feet. Funny to see Nic Cage in a movie like this, but also sort of pathetic and sucky at the same time.
The only movie I ever walked out of in the theater was called Nothing but Trouble.
Check this cast:
Chevy Chase
Dan Aykroyd
John Candy
Demi Moore
and others
Directed by Dan Aykroyd.
Absolutely NO REDEEMING QUALITIES.
A waste of celluloid. Rent this to see how comedic genius does not guarantee a funny movie. I've managed, after much therapy, to forget most of the details of this film. You'll have to rent it yourself.
Did any of you see Equilibrium? Probably the worst movie of the year, if not the decade. It could have been great, htough, if they had crossed the gap between cheesy, pretentious wanna-be good sci-fi drama and comedy. For the forst 30 minutes, I thought that movie was actually a parody of the Matrix.
I would have loved to see Todd's review on that one...
The only thing memorable about Nothing but Trouble is Digital Underground's appearence. If you look closely you can see Tupac as a backup SINGER (not rapper)! He doesn't look so hardcore singing the chorus to "the same song!" That being said, I've never seen the whole movie. DU's appearence happens about 15mins into the flick. After that, change the channel.
Triple X. Extreme athlete as super-spy. I couldn't possibly lose enough brain cells to make that concept work, and the stunts were enough to make Jet Li say "that's ridiculous!"
The first 20 minutes of TripleX did blow. The acting, the stunts. But when they got to Prague, somehow the movie did an about face. If I ever own the dvd, I will start it at the first Prague scene. I disagree with you. I liked this movie. It was funny, the chick was hot (not in the stereotypically Hollywood way). The villian was well-played. It could have been better, yes, but it was entertaining.
Ok, I'll agree with you to a point. The movie did get better in Prague, except the rail slide with the drink tray. Asia Argento was a redeeming quality in this movie. She was much better (and more naked) in New Rose Hotel, which also has Christopher Walken & Willem Dafao, and is an all-around better movie on about 1/10th the budget. The bad guy in Triple X was good also, but those things weren't enough to make this movie not suck for me. Normally, I like Vin Deisel, but this movie did nothing for me. I hear he's doing a prequel to Pitch Black. That might not suck.
just seeing rodney dangerfield as child molesting super creep in a sit-com like snippet of the movie,no way can this be one of the worst. maybe annoying, but not the worst.
Ford Fairlane starring the dice man, now that is the worst!!!
Okay, what the hell was up with that movie. Stupid bears running around. It was the absolute worse. I kept hoping it would get better to no avail.. SUCCCKKKEEDD!!
Looking through the stacks at the video store the other day I came across a real crud movie I unfortunately rented. It was somewhat watchable so I wonder if I should really call it "worst" but . . . "Silence of the Hams" a take off on "Silence of the Lambs" was a bad movie & if you want to waste your life well .... Dom deLuise plays the character based on Hannibal Lecter. It was painful. Another film I recently saw that was likewise painful was Laura Croft (?) Tomb Raider. Visually it was interesting but I found myself fast-forwarding through large segments of it. When I find myself pressing the ol' fast-forward I know that the flick is pretty much garbage.
I wonder if anybody out there has a 'worst' genre?
The following movies have been described as "WORST":
American President
The Avengers
Bad Girls
The Bourne Identity
Chariots of Fire
Chicken Run -- 2 mentions
Corky Ramano
Cutthroat Island
The Druids
Equilibrium
The Fan
Ford Fairlane
The Glimmer Man
Highlander 2,3,4
High Strung
Howard the Duck
Jason X
K911
Legionnaire
The Man Who Cried
Master of Disguise -- 2 mentions
Minority Report
Mission to Mars
Mister Magoo
Natural Born Killers
Nothing but Trouble -- 2 mentions
The Phantom Menace
Planet of the Apes (remake)
Posse
Red Planet
The Saint
Scorpion King
Scream 2,3
Seven (7)
Silence of the Hams
Triple X
Valley Girls
Sorry if I missed any contributions thus far. Personally I find some of these not to be "worst" movies for myself, but . . . For example, there was some debate as to whether "Seven" starring Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey should be in this category given Spacey's acting ability. Are there any others that you think should be thrown out? In my opinion, most of the choices given above are definitely deserving of being included in the list.
i liked seven and natural born killers, but that just me.
i agree with everything else on this list that ive seen. and the ones i havent, ill take yall word for it and avoid em.
You forgot to list the actors to avoid. Only a few of those were mentioned.
I would like to add any movie with Rob Schneider in it that does not also have Adam Sandler (Even though some with both in them sucked pretty bad, too).
Also, anything made after 1985 that has Eric Roberts in it is smart to avoid.
Some actors who have been mentioned as "WORST":
The Baldwin Bros
Richard Gere
Christopher Lambert
Eric Roberts
Adam Sandler
Rob Schneider
Steven Segall
Jean Claude Van Damme
Mario Van Peebles
To this list I would add: Keanu Reeves, Madonna, & Prince. Neither Madonna nor Prince are technically actors I suppose. I feel both of them should stick to music and leave the acting to professionals. As for Keanu, he is seemingly incapable of emoting. Sure, he can memorize his lines, but I've never found him really convincing in any role I've seen him in save the "Bill 'n Ted" series
I just wanted to add the two movies that we're just plain bad. The all-time worst movie I have ever seen is "Vanilla Sky". Not far behind is "8 Crazy Nights". That was the worst holiday movie I have ever seen. And to think that Tom Cruise had that movie coming. Adam Sandler is also sadly on the bad side. We worked so hard but earned nothing but sh*t!

loser is the worst movie i have ever seen.....8 people watched......8 people sleeping by the end, it was horrible, no plot, no redeeming qualities whatsoever!! terrible, don't even touch it on the rental rack...
It was maudlin and a bit overdone true, but for me it isn't a really horrifically bad movie. There was a story and an interesting concept. Not one of Spielberg's better movies, but not bad either. Maybe what I disliked about it was that I felt that the movie was trying a bit too hard for those tears. When I saw E.T. I cried (I was a kid at the time mind you), but I remember feeling moved, and that many people who were leaving the theatre were crying too. With A.I. I think the same effect was intended, but maybe 'cause the film plodded along too slowly or because the main character gave a new meaning to Saccharine it kind of sucked.
Nobody did a bad bad thing, and what was with that piano???!!! like Ding!!! Ding!!! Ding!!! ( somthing dramatic is comming up) Ding!! Ding!! But nothing ever dose. this movie suuucccckkkkssss
2001 a space odyssey - What the hell was it? It's the ultimate in too long, too boring, too stupid. I guess some of the circley spaceship stuff was kinda innovative, but for how long do all these assholes have to walk upiside down until they realize that yes, they really are using gravity messer-uppers. And the ending!!! Whatthehell?!!? I was just pissed off and confused, did the space man just become a planet-orbiting fetus? And the screeching black blacks?!? The only good things were the circley spaceships and seeing the monkeys whack each other over the heads, but even that took too long, and why did we need to see the stupid blocks? I'd much rather see an alien. What the hell was wrong with Stanley Kubrick in this movie!?! Clockwork Orange is like my favorite movie, but this was just so stupidly lengthened, boring, stupid confusing. Plus Hal was definately mental, like a child molester among normal robots, he was totally stupid. It could have been so much cooler, all they needed to do was make it shorter, explain what in hell's going on, and fix the ending, which includes showing the damn aliens
A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket are great. 2001 A Space Odysee sucked. Didn't see Eyes Wide Shut but a good friend tell me that it sucks BIG TIME!!!
Did anyone see what was number one at the box office this weekend??? KANGAROO JACK!!! Jesus H. Christ, what has America come to?? I mean I know we're known for being mindless drones, but COME ON! I haven't seen a worse waste of CGI animation since Jar-Jar Binks. Also, I think Eddie Murphy made a deal with the devil that went sour after 1990, because all his movies since then make me want to cry and set my vcr on fire.
P.S. Sorry, I actually liked The Bourne Identity, but The Talented Mr. Ripley was one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen...and they made a SEQUEL to it!
You said you LIKED Snatch. Have you changed your sexual orientation recently? Then again, during your career you spent a lot of time hangin' with 12 guys so that might explain it.
Ok, do think seven (7) and natural born killers should be removed from the list, AI wasn't that bad either, not as good as the hype, but no way near bad.
As far as ET goes, god I hate that movie! this stupid fat dwarf alien running around, getting drunk, phhhhooooonnnnneeeee Hoooooooooommmmeeeee, UGHH! I'm getting nauseated just thinking about it. I saw it, people bought me the stupid movie! and I threw it out, defo one of the bad.
The worst, umm almost all disney movies, with the exception of the stories they created, umm the pixar ones. Those are fabo! but trash the flith they are corupting childrens minds with... am I the only one who read the hunchback???
The Ugly....... the worst movie I have ever seen, and yes I walked out of the cinema, was slingblade , it was awful, it was dull, it was stupid, and billy bob is a lamer. and I have enjoyed jack tripper since 3s company!

Many people have commented that they thought that certain of the movies listed above shouldn't be on the list. Most frequently mentioned are "Natural Born Killers" and "Seven". Which of the above do you think should be booted off? If there are enough responses to warrant it I'll edit it off the list. I'm sort of surprised no one has thought 'Chariots of Fire' should be hauled off the list.
If this is worst movies, some of these may be bad flicks, but they don't all belong on this list. It can't be a "worst movie" if some people like it. I think only the junk everyone agrees to hate should stay on this list. Therefore, I would have to take the following movies off the list based on other posts (oh, and my 2 cents):
The Bourne Identity
E.T.
Natural Born Killers
Seven
2001
Go over to the best movies post and you will see 4 of those films. (I added E.T. I was 8 when I saw this in the theaters. Yeah, it's sappy now, but it set box office records and saying the first time you saw it you didn't tear up is like saying you didn't cry watching old yeller. To quote Bill Murray, "who cried when old yeller got shot? {pause for effect} Nobody cried when old yeller died? I cried my eyes out.")
As for Ford Fairlane, I know several intellegent people who every now and then quote Dice (although that might just be from his old stand up routines). However, it wouldn't break my heart to see it stay on the list.
