So I was reading the "best video game of all time" thread (
http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/thread?forumid=192395&messageid=1058887574&lp=1060872276 ) when I realized that nobody (including me) even mentioned the one video game that has even more lasting francise appeal then Madden, because it's played religiously by gamers and nongamers:
Golden Tee Golf
This game is very much a part of our culture as adults. I've watched older men that think X-box and Atari are one and the same line up to play this game. It's been around since '96 and rarely goes unused in any bar. I've been playing it for years, and often meet up with friends to start the night over 18 before we tear up the town. Everybody I know wants to punch Peter
"How about a little scotch with that water" Jacobs in the face for all of his annoying comments. I once made a hole in one and before the ball leaked in the hole he quipped, "That's not enough". I was yelling at him as the machine went ape shit. So were my friends. After regaining my composure, I thanked Pat Summerall for the "Ah, but wait" comment. I think GT is the only videogame one can carry on a conversation with and the rest of the room won't question your sanity.
Anyways, Golden Tee has to get concideration for best game. Whenever the newest version is released, there is always a line to play (tee time?). It gets passing mention in several sports columns, like this one from ESPN about their new show, a retread of HBO's
1st and 10:

Just thought GT deserved some props. Carry on.
