Who are these new people...

Is this new lot of post-ers a teenage crowd? I know I only stick my head in here occasionally, but who, when and where did they come from? There has yet to be an interesting, humourous or intelligent thing from ANY of them. I think I may have to pack my bags in a sec, if one more letter is spent on the Hilary Duff movie..I mean it.

Other peoples children

December 31 2003, 3:44 PM

Agreed!! It’s one thing to be disagreeable or mean, or whatever.

But dredging up really old threads (madam 454), that’s just plain stupid and pointless. If you’ve got something to say, say it. Since you’re new to the board, I get it that you slogged through all the old posts.

Congratulations!! You can read good for you. Your parents must be sooo proud.

And yes Princess Master Chef, it stinks of juvenile delinquents here. The TV board is only slightly better at the moment because there are a few adult posters. It is however, rife with useless threads and mindless blah blah blah.

Well, what can you do? I’ve taken to ignoring the chaff, and posting only on the few threads that entertain me.

Not the Married type?

December 31 2003, 4:13 PM

Er.. huh?

I'm completely unsure of why you might say that.

Is it 'cause I can be an asshole?
Is it 'cause I seem immature?
Is it that I'm completely devoid of compassion?

Let me know, I'm completely curious.

Er... how about all of the above?

Just kidding, couldn't resist the opening.

I was gonna go with too cynical, myself. That's the pot calling the kettle, though.

i've given up my dreams of Bjork on New Year's, so now there is no one to refute me...

I dunno, post a song or something. I'm bummed that we won't hear the new song until Friday!

Re: yeah,

Well, it seems that a lotta people have their hearts set on getting their song picked, so I'm gonna let 'em fight over it. I suggested a Beatles song, which is the best I can come up with.

It just bothers me that the TV board gets like ten new threads a day, and even the movie board gets at least one or two, but nothing new ever comes up on the music board. Oh well.

Re: Re: yeah,

yeah, it's not happening like the rest of them.

just look at it! it is banished to being the "Other Board Island." it doesn't even get it's own real name.

anyway, that one seems mostly for discussing the pick of the week.

i am especially fond of the T.V. board because no one even discusses T.V. which i think is hysterically funny.

okay, i feel out of my element... i'm going back to T.V. land.

Good to see you around 8 bucks, although over there i suppose "Want my 8 bucks back" would have made no sense.

Re: yeah,

Well, being cool (others might disagree with you though) and being married aren't mutually exclusive. Hell.. I've been married a little over 11 years now.

Being cynical (thanks Hep or not) does tend to limit the olde romantic opportunities. In actuality I don't think most of us are completely ourselves when posting random thoughts on the boards.
I like to think we tend to be more complex than our little soundbites allow.

With the exception of an individual (you know who you are) who puts his entire being into each post.

In the end, I may not be as cynical as I appear, Hep may be Santa Clause, and Collins might not be retarded.

Ha!!

If you believe that, I got some nice land to sell you in Florida.

Not Florida, the moon. That's where the future is.

Anyway, you're completely right $8. We act as if we're all best friends, but in reality, our posts don't reveal that much about ourselves. I guess that's why I like your posts 8. You seem to cut out the usual jokey-jokey stuff and post stuff that is worth reading.

Not to count out the jokesters around here. I love to laugh, but to much laughter breaks you away from reality. Or something like that.

Reality?

December 31 2003, 6:30 PM

I think I prefer laughter to that on my message boards. But back to the original post, PMC is right. There seems to be a whole legion of kids who got comuters for X-mas and found this site. Good to see that alot of the old regulars are still around, but it seems like they post less and less. At least it seems like that in the most recent threads.

And why do morons keep digging up old threads? They are dead, just let them die. Jesus, it seems like at least once a month we have to yell at the kids about this. If you have something to say, start a new thread if the topic is over a few weeks old.

I say there should be a rule that all newbies should introduce themselves so we can explain the rules to them. And then we know who to ignore.

If there is one thing you can't do on a message bored...

December 31 2003, 10:19 PM

...it's tell other people "the rules". The best way to make newbies learn is TRIAL BY FIRE!!!

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The TV bored gets dead like this sometimes too. I'm glad there are some from this bored who make their way over there. The whole "Other Bored Island" thing happened back when there was a big war between the boreds, involving invasions and such.

Dig it up, it was pretty durn humorous.

It was mostly me against TVLand, most of the good threads were over there, and I ended up defecting to TV board in the end.

Once the dust settled though, I came back over here. TV land gets dreadfully boring after a while. At least we occasionally talk about movies over here.

Did you offload him onto TV land as part of the battle?

I am a recent newbie who learned the rules by getting yelled at. So, I think newbies need an initiation to post. Walking across burning coals, watching Gigli, arguing with an elder, etc. Then they will burn, HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Not soon enough, she most definately does not have the staying power as the kung fu legend Sunny Chiba who I might add is not mention often enough in these hallowed posts.
