best performance in a tiny role

those barely there cameos where the performance manages in less than two minutes to steal the whole film.

Christopher Walken in True Romance and Pulp Fiction obviously but also:
-Annie Hall - as Dwayne, Annie's brother. Brilliantly funny. A parody to his car accident scene from the Dead Zone.

-American Sweethearts - The most brilliant delivery of the words "Hi, hello" ever.

Viggo Mortensen - Carlito's Way; plays Carlito's old buddy in a wheelchair who betrays him for the feds. Amazing performance, completely steals the scene away from Pacino.

Leelee Sobieski - Eyes Wide Shut; plays the silent teen nymph daughter of the russian costume store owner. She whispers something into Tom Cruise's ear and then for a moment she is the film's mesmerizing caricature for pure almost abstract, dark eroticism.

Sean Connery - Robin Hood Prince of Thieves; plays King Richard in the last scene.

Jeff Goldblum - Annie Hall; literally on the screen for a split second. Talking on the phone at some party in hollywood;"I forgot my mantra". Hilarious.

Mark Lawrence - Dusk till Dawn; plays the "mean old bastard" who gives the gecko brothers a motel room in the beginning of the movie. Great 20 second performance.

Brad Pitt in True Romance. I don't like Brad Pitt much. I think this is his best role.

Steve Martin in The Muppet Movie.

the Wolf?

June 9 2004, 12:49 PM

(yes, i know some of these are in for more than 2 minutes. regardless...)

I know we have a lot of Tarantino roles/actors on here already, but where's the mention of Keitel as the Wolf? He's in the film for only about 10 minutes, but owns the screen during the entire time. And deserves his own movie...don't you want to know more about the Wolf?

Also...

Charlie Sheen in Ferris Buehler and Being John Malkovich ("Malkatraz!")
Kevin Spacey in Seven

.

There are no small roles...

July 21 2004, 4:25 PM

I'd have to say Billy Bob Thornton in "Dead Man". He was kinda like sprinkles on a turd. Not that you'd want to eat said sprinkles.
