Cellular

I had low expectations going into this movie, but I enjoyed almost all of it. Sure there were some holes in the, waddyacallit, plot, but whatever.

The bad guy, whose name I always forget, but was awesome in The Transporter and okay in The Italian Job, is nice and evilly bad bad bad guy. The kind of bad guy who will kill you, but not before he lets you realize you're about to die. William H. Macey is about what you expect, which is not bad. The lead guy, whoever he is, was good in his role of running calling improvising stuff. No idea who he is, but he kinda looked like Vaughn from Alias. Basinger is delicious, even with all the crying and blubbering. Yum.

Plotwise there are enough twists to make it entertaining and suspenseful. There's car action, chicks in bikinis (with nipples...see it, you'll get me), and a minute or two of Jessica Biehl. Nice.

Best performance of the movie though goes to dickhead lawyer guy in Porsche.

Easy Breezy Suspenseful Fun

My problem with this movie is that I can just imagine the pitch...

"Ok, it's Speed mixed with Phone Booth, but we'll throw in some Oscar nominees/winners to make it seem all good...and stuff!"

Yes, I like Jason Statham as well (the bad guy). I keep waiting for him to be in something halfway decent outside of Guy Ritchie movies. I really wanted to like the Transporter, but aside from some interesting fight scenes, it's just garbage. Kinda like a Jackie Chan movie without the Jackie Chan and with almost as bad dubbing.

The lead in Cellular just looks like some kid they plucked from the WB. Too random. Maybe I'll check it out for the bikinis (and more, you say??) when it makes its way to HBO.

Music from the movie

Anyone know what that song was called that's in the movie? it's the only one that wasn't orchestral or whatever. It was all upbeat and everything. The person I went to the movie with wants me to track it down, but I can't for the life of me figure out what the song is.

The dude with the porshe was awesome. He played an equally dickish part in an episode of CSI:Miami that was memorable as well. Pretty much the same character though. He must just hunt for parts where he can play the same person or something.
