Someone recently mentioned the movie Beetlejuice and I got to thiniking about my favorite movies from my younger days. I loved Beetlejuice when I was a teen, but to go wayyy back.... I remember Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I think I can even hear the song in my head right now! ahhhhhh nosalgia.
I am in my mid 20's and I am shocked that not one person could list Goonies as one of their faviorites. Sure, its not going to pick up any oscars....but what a ride
I was a strange little girl. My parents taped Beetlejuice on HBO one day...little did they know that for a few months afterwards I'd watch that movie every day!
I think i was about....4 at the time. Now i know all the lines from it! But i think a lot of my friends did the exact same thing when they were younger. The tape must be warped by now.
I rememeber Ghostbusters scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. The scene in the library with the lady ghost made me cry. Oh, and I really liked The Princess Bride.
Listen, I don't wanna sound pretentious or outta line here, but did a gaggle of teenage girls start posting all of a sudden? 'Land Before Time'? 'Ghostbusters' was a scary movie? Hah?
OK - granted, the 'Let's Get Small' Steve Martin LP is on the outer cusp of my time - so I won't complain.
I loved E.T. Icryed my eyes out in it and I thinl it was the first time I ever heard the word "penis" I think that in the new version that was cut out though.
I remember Sheena. This was during my prepubescent years but I still remember thinking she was really hot and getting turned on during the movie; I wanted to do things with and to her but I wasnt exactly sure what or why.
Most "kid's" movies frightened the hell out of me. Mostly because they involved puppets. The neverending story, REturn to Oz, Follow that Bird; they all traumatized me.
Oh my god, I can't believe there is someone out there who remembers that movie! That was really freaky when the witch took off her head and had a whole room full of heads! Wow, I think I want to see if they have that on DVD. It amazes me some of the stuff they made for kids back in the day.
hmm I've seen Tron about ten thousand times and I think it's one of the under rated movies ever. I used to watch Rambo, Top Gun, Star Wars, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland and maybe one of the most influential movies I used to watch Indiana Jones. As you can see I spent alot of time running through the woods with a whip, light saber and light cycle shooting down migs while chasing a white rabbit.
Gremlins!!! Back to the Future!!! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!!! Oh and does anyone remember a show Called The Littles? It was a cartoon on Saturday mornings, and I think they made a movie out of it. Does anyone know the name or know what I am talking about?
i also rememebr growing up n watching Super DAve, n Zelda the Cartoon, n REn n Stimpy n Rockos modern life......remember other kids jealous cus my parents let me watch ren n stimpy....by the way........if u check out this website n look around i think the littles may be in there somewhere http://www.dicentertainment.com/shows/
The Dark Crystal.
The Last Unicorn.
The Secret of NIMH.
The Wizard of Oz.
Batman ( 1989).
Ghostbusters.
Indiana Jones Trilogy.
YES! I LOVE THE DARK CRYSTAL! i've seen about a thousand times since i was little, it was my favorite movie back then and this is my number two movie with the original Star Wars trilogy being number one! i still love it, i had the original Thorn-Emi tape as well as the 1994 Disney Re-Issue but i replaced them back in 2001 with the Special Edition DVD cause i got a DVD player as a High School graduation gift back in 2001, i also have the Superbit Edition DVD and the Collector's Edition DVD as well as a movie poster! i guess you can say that this movie is one of my obessesions.
Can't wait for the sequel coming out january 2007!
Anyone else seen Oliver and Company when it originally came out in 1988 in theaters? well i did back when i was 6 living in Omaha Nebraska, my mom and dad took me to see it twice in theaters in the winter of that year and i had some of the merchandise like Mcdonald's finger puppets, a storybook, coloring book, Pajamas and Plastic Oliver toy but unfortunately i was disappointed that it never came on video until 1996 after 9 years of waiting.
anybody ever remember "dot and the kangaroo"? i think they showed it on HBO. i was about 6 so the year would be about 19......oh who cares about numbers.
anyway the movie was animated but in the end dot's kangaroo turned real. and you see him hopping along with a bunch of other real kangaroos. buckets of tears ensued.
that was my favorite childhood movie and the first to ever make me cry.
Holy Shi-it! 'Dot and the Kangaroo'?!? The forgotten Australian masterpiece? (note: this tone does NOT evoke sarcasm). Wow - I was around that age as well when I saw it - and I think I caught one of the sequels, but damned if I could remember anything about them. Not often does the animated community embrace aboriginal culture as 'Dot and the Kangaroo' did.
I loved them films, there was Dot and the Kangaroo (the best, as the original always is), then Dot and the Whale, Dot and the Bunny and Dot and Santa Claus (which unfortunatley I never seen). I would love to own these films, I watched them on telly. I know I'm probably just a little bit too old to enjoy them now but it's always nice to have your childhood memories ain't it! You know what, I actually probably would watch them all again , I loved them that much when I was about seven!
wen i was a kid i loved porn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111
Any one of the original three Star Wars movies, "Beat Street" and I didn't even think of "The Goonies" until Blake mentioned it, and he was right. I can't believe someone else knows about "Animalympics", not one of my favorites, but I liked it and wish it was on DVD.
Wizard of Oz hands down fave
Willy Wonka
The Blue Bird (freaky fantasy movie with Shirley Temple--cool to watch as a child)
PUF N STUF! 'cos it's groovy
