| OK - I am sure I am not the first person to cite this but I couldn't believe how many parallels there were to 'The Long Kiss Goodnight' and 'The Bourne Identity'
1) Both lead characters were former assassins
2) Both characters primary aliases were Kane(Caine)
3) Both got amnesia from bullet wounds (and left for dead in the water)
4) Both films stared Brian Cox (in virtually the same role)
5) Both films' 'sidekicks' (Franka Potente and Sam Jackson) had trouble with the law in the past
6) When finally aware of their pasts, both lead chracters want to quit the business
7) Finales occurs in Winter
8) Both characters retrieve lots of $$$ and belongings from a safety deposit box
9) In both films, the same gov't agency that trained characters attempts to exterminate them
10) Charly Baltimore is missing for 8 years, Jason Bourne is missing for 8 days
Yeah, yeah, I'm reachin' for a few - but still, I have just as many for 'Dark City'/'The Matrix' |

Ludlum is the best (or at least most generally accessible) writer of that genre, so imitators abound. |

Speaking of lawsuits, I watched the trailer for "Mr and Mrs Smith" yesterday...
Now, I like Pitt and Jolie more than the Governator and Jamie-Lee, but Smith is a COMPLETE ripoff of True Lies, with minor changes thrown in. The even have a damn tango scene just like Lies. If I were Jim Cameron, I'd be getting my lawyer on the phone...
