The following comic strips should be abolished for all time:
Blondie
Beetle Bailey
Cathy
Dennis the Menace
The Family Circus
Peanuts
&
Popeye
I think most cartoons that have been made into live action movies with actors have been abject failures, or only appealed to ages 5 ~ 12. Of those listed in the original post I would say . . . . Calvin and Hobbes could conceivably be made into a movie. However, I would hate to see a live-action version of Calvin and Hobbes that really sucks majorly & reflects poorly on the comic. It is such an interesting, inventive cartoon strip week after week, that to watch it go down in flames with human actors taking on the parts would be painful to me. I think it is better left as a cartoon. Look what Robin Williams did to Popeye.
A lot of the cartoon strips in the newspapers are way too old fashioned these days to have any appeal in my opinion. I wonder how they keep going. Who reads Family Circus, Beetle Bailey, or Wizard of Id and gets a howl out of it, let alone a chuckle? I feel none of them should be made into movies.
