I want to like her, I do - no bullshit, she's cute. I liked the fact she was understated in 'Almost Famous'. I even liked her character in 'Elf'. But... (and this is merely a personal perspective) if I happen to catch anyone interesting on a late-night talk show and I discover that their actual persona is pretty much vapid and/or vainglorious, that's it - they're history.
She was on Conan last week, and she just came off as dumb as a bag of hammers. Whadya expect though - 'acting' is the second easiest profession in the world.
MD - Harsh. Almost masoginistic. Funny, though.
I have a hard time with a similar issue. Josie Maran I find ultrahot, but I read an interview where she sounded dumber than a pile o' poop, but all the while sounding tres important. Turned me off.
the same EXACT thing happened to me with Alicia Silverstone. Had a big crush on her (remember how popular she was during the Aerosmith video days?), but then saw her on Letterman, laughing like she was auditioning for Revenge of the Nerds 8, and generally acting like an airhead...and that was it. done and done. cant ever look at her the same. and what's up with those cardboard box commercials??
Oh, and Denise Richards. Yeah, I still think she's hot, but a few ladder rungs broke the day I saw her on Letterman.
