“This exciting and expansive campaign will allow us to stretch and realize the full promise of NBC Universal's formidable assets," said Jeff Zucker, the president of the NBC Universal Television Group. "This concerted push will create a buzz across the spectrum of our networks that will build through King Kong's much-anticipated release."
Stacey Snider, the chairman of Universal Pictures, added, “King Kong, as it's being interpreted by Peter Jackson, is the work of a master storyteller operating at the full height of his creative powers. We are immensely excited to allow the world its first glimpse of this extraordinary film and its remarkable central character with an event that is as ambitious and momentous as King Kong deserves. This roadblock demonstrates just how coordinated and unified a company NBC Universal has become in just over a year, and we are proud of our shared commitment to accomplishing something of this magnitude."
The new version of the classic film stars Naomi Watts, Jack Black, Thomas Kretschmann, Colin Hanks, Andy Serkis, Jamie Bell and Adrien Brody. It hits theaters worldwide on December 14.
Isn't it interesting that we are now getting advertisements for PREVIEWS of movies, rather than actual movies? Has the movie run out of ideas that much? Are the marketing guys film-maker wannabees and want to get into the act? Ok.. enuf ranting. Thank you for listening.
I would see this film however, because I find the idea of Jack Black and Adrian Brody in the same movie intriguing.
Looks far from great, I mean CGI dinos à la Jurassic Park + CGI monkey à la Mighty Joe Young + King Kong story everybody knows = a big fat dissapointment.
The funny thing about these "creature feature" films is that youre never allowed to do the same monster again in a different film. There is a reason Jaws is the only shark movie you remember: it was the first to showcase a shark as the main character. NOw everytime you see a movie about sharks you have to think of jaws. Its the same with Jurassic park. THat T-Rex will always belong to Spielberg because everytime someone else puts a TRex in their movie it will move, act and look exactly the same and make us think only of Jurassic PArk. NOt only that but the Novelty wears off too because we've been exposed to the dinosaurs from the Jurassic Park movie enough times to be sick of them by now.
I think there should be more films about giant bugs though.
They had one shot of those in the trailer that was cool.
TO me the idea of giant bugs is scary and fascinating. They have the technology now to accurately portray human size insects without making em look silly. And anyone whos seen any special on bugs on Animal Planet would know they could so take over the world in a second if they were any closer to our size.
