After watching the preview for "Flightplan" tOdd's got me addicted to the moviefone trailers and clips site.

A History of Violence looks to me like it might be a good one. I am not much of a fan of Cronenberg but Ed Harris is a great actor and he is right creeping me out in this one.

Cronenberg was once a great director (remember 'Scanners'?) and he's Canadian.

Viggo has become a new favorite actor of mine as of late, so if I can find of this flick, I'll probably see of it as well.

Videodrome was even worse especially towards the end.

Im such a big fan of cronenberg that I wish he would at least TRY to do a kind of film thats somewhat palatable to a mainstream audience. He's one of those genius directors forever working in obscurity because he prefers to be left to his own contraptions. I'm sure there's a whole league of would-be Cronenberg fans out there who'd bask in his glorious storytelling, pacing and extremely intelligent, layered psychological ideas if he'd simply make movies they could actually stomach. Its also telling that the only two movies he's made that aren't overwhelmed with sickening imagery happen to be his two arguably best films; The Dead Zone and Spider.

This goes for a lot of "cult" directors in my opinion. Not that you should ever "dumb" down your work. But throw your obviously-non-target audiences a bone or two once in a while and they just might develop a taste for your main course.

anyways my favorite Cronenbergs:
The Fly
The Dead Zone
Dead Ringers
Spider
Naked Lunch
Scanners
The Brood
Shivers

Did anyone here see 'Rabid'? It was one of Cronenberg's first flicks, AND is has Marilyn Chambers in it!! It was always on so late on Cinemax, all I ever go to see were the credits (but even those were cool!)

If I had to get a criterion dvd of Cronenbergs I'd get Dead Ringers. Videodrome supposedly has a lot of intriguing extra features on it but the movie itself was kind of dumb and unentertaining.

But if you really want it you can get it tax free online for 29 bucks at deepdiscountdvd.com or overstock.com
