Opening soon! Any thoughts? Will this be a rip-off of A Nightmare Before Christmas or will this be a original? Johnny Depp does the leads voice over. Looks good in clip.

How would it be a rip off of TNBC? Beyond the fact that it uses stop motion animation.

It looks very similar - and is even advertised as such. I think it will be awesome.

I don't see it at all. One is a kid's movie about holidays. One a groom with cold feet winds up marrying a corpse. How these storylines appear remotely similar is beyond me. Sure the look is the same, but most Tim Buton movies have a familiar flair. You can watch a trailer for an upcoming Burton flick and pin it as his work before you know who the director is.

Yeah -
It's the look that's similar. I expect kinda quirky, but grotesquely beautiful.

I think Burton should only release his films either around halloween or christmas time. I feel like with his movies I have to be in the right vibe to watch it. When I think of Burton I think of leafless tree branches dancing in a blistering october wind.
And snow.
Lots of snow.
At night.

I agree with Mebossy... Tim Burton is definitely a winter sort of artist. I am one of the 5 people who didn't enjoy 'Nightmare b4 Xmas' but it had nothing to do with the animation [which was great] but the voice casting...

Corpse Bride has JD and Helena Bonham Carter, which don't bug me, so maybe this will be worth a looksee...

even if we're surrounded by dead people.

Looking at his filmography http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000318/
I like about a third of the movies, & feel neutral &/or dislike the other two thirds. Batman Returns, Beetlejuice, and The Planet of the Apes remake aren't really my cup of tea. Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, and Mars Attacks are. I actively dislike Pee wee's Big Adventure and Sleepy Hollow.

The movie of his that I like most is Ed Wood. Having seen a number of his movies I would say that they rely a great deal on the setting or surreal quality that he brings to them. Often though the stories are sluggish and the plot suffers because he's overly concerned with visual details.

You had me up until Sleep Hollow

A-- I'm surprised you didn't like Sleepy Hollow, which I consider Burton's best artistic work...and I agreed with the other categories you mentioned.

Although I can't watch Scissorhands because it just get's me too choked up at the end and it messes up my sinuses.

Mars Attacks...black humor, but funny! [I would actually vote for Jack for President after that.]

The only thing I wish is that there were 21 and older screenings of Corpse Bride so I wouldn't have to deal with kids squealing and the teenagers talking on their cellphones throughout.

Ya gotta give it up to Mr. Burton. The guy did 'Pee Wee's Big Adventure' and 'Batman'. That's very Kubrickesque - going from comedy to a dark tale and all. I'm color blind, so maybe that's why I like 'Ed Wood' as well. But, I saw 'Sleep Hollow' for the first time last week - and it was surprisingly good.

Sure, the guy's stumbled here and there. But I admire him, really, no shit. I mean, how could a guy that looks like a strung out Robert Smith (from the Cure) land a chick like his ex-hottie, Lisa Marie?

I didn't find the Willy Wonka flick all that good, but... if you really want to see Burton's best work, I suggest renting 'Singles' and look for his cameo roughly halfway through.
