Yet another "unknown movie title"--- this will be tough.

I have scoured the "internets" (yes, both of them), looking for any info on a movie. I've even tried using IMDB's keyword search. So, here we go, I thought I'd post and see if anyone else out there knows what I'm looking for.

I appologise agead of time, as I don't have much information on the movie. But, obviously if I knew an actor from the movie I could find it that way, or a director...etc.

These events are not neccessarily in sequence, but they are the main events that have stuck in my head.
I believe the movie opens up with a younger teen boy walking down a secluded country road covered in blood, being stopped by a police officer. Another main scene that I remember is an officer inside of the boys house talking with his mother. The boy had basically locked himself inside his room. After the officer and the woman talk for a while they break down his door, and find the boy had hanged(hung) himself. I believe the shot where the viewer sees this is from outside the house, through the boys window.
The basic plot of the movie (from as much as I can remember)...
revolves around the young boy (mentioned above) meeting a younger "woman" (maybe lower to mid 20's or so) at a truckstop/diner. The woman is in an abusive relationship, befriends the boy. And I believe they hang out at a river bank together. There's a scene where the boyfriend/husband confronts the woman and boy at the river, and the viewer is left with not knowing exactly what happend. Just to find out that (and I'm not entirely sure about this) but that either the woman, or the boy, had killed/beat to death the abusive man.

I know there's not a lot of solid info there, but maybe if someone's seen it they'll know what I'm talking about. Any info would be great.
Just a few side-notes. I believe the movie is not entirely sequential. i.e. the boy walking down the road at what I believe is the beginning of the movie covered in blood, is from the confrontation at the river which happens much later in the movie. But then again, this could be just because I haven't seen the movie but once, and quite a while ago.
Also, I can't put an exact date on the movie. From the style I'd assume it's definetly not an 80's movie. And since I know I saw it atleast 4 years ago, I'd say it's safe to say it's pre-2000. I'm guessing early to mid 1990's.
Thanks, and good luck.

The best I can up with is 'Newport South' (you can check the details on Imdb - it's not exactly what you were speaking of, but I came across of it lately)

No. It's not that one. I guess a few other things that might help, it's definetly a small cast. Centered mostly around the woman and the boy, with only a few very small "supporting" roles. It's a darker (film-wise... low lighting, lot of night scenes) movie. And also I would say an Indie movie. From what I remember it would be too, um.. this is hard to word correctly, but too graphic for TV. Especially since I'm sure it was over 5 years ago. It's not gruesome, and I have no idea about language, but it seems to be too deep and to "adult content" themed.. murder, suicide, etc..

I have no idea though. I've been looking for this movie for probably 3-4 years now and have never come up with anything. I'm starting to think it was never even a movie. But... it's a great movie in my head, so if it's not a real movie... oh yeah, I have an idea. LOL.

English like American. Guess I should've explained better.
"they was a speakin 'ameri-can'" or something like that.
I wouldn't say that I'm up early, as much as... still up from last night. Insomnia, it's a bitch. But.. can be fun sometimes. When it gets really bad, and you start getting sleep deprivation... deciphering between what really happend, and what you dreamed, starts to get a little tough.

Ok. First of all, I feel stupid, I'll get to that in a second. Second... The answer to my prayers (or atleast this paticular question) has been answered, thanks to someone from another board.

The movie is... Eye of God (1997)
Staring Nick Stahl as the boy (I actually enjoy his work.)
Martha Plimpton as the abused woman.
From the synopsis that I read on IMDB it appears that I MAY have(but not sure cause I haven't seen it recently) spliced some of the scenes together. But I would imagine that's due to the fact I probably saw it when it came out.. 1997. Which is about 8 years ago.. making me 13. So, memories... how reliable are they.

Here's why I feel stupid. When I first started looking for this movie, I tried to think of any of the actors/actresses in it. The only thing I could come up with is I THOUGHT the woman was the nerdy girl from goonies. So I followed that up. Couldn't find anything that sounded too close. Come to find out it was indeed the nerdy girl from goonies.
Second, I searched IMDB keywords. Searching with "nonlinear timline", "suicide", "murder", and "independant film" it was narrowed down to 4 movies. you think I would've realized. I know I actually clicked on the film, I must've just thought from the tagline that it wasn't it. Anyway, looks like a good movie. I'm off right now to go rent it. I need to know if it's as good in my head as it really is.
