Excellent. Just excellent. I was a little let down due to having to wait so long (it was delayed from it's original April release) and my absurd expectations, but it's still easily one of the best films of the year. These are some of the best performances Cage, and particularly Caine have ever given. It's painfully depressing, at times side splitting hilarious, and just plain heartwarming at others. Run to go see this. I'm sure it's another great movie that's about to get lost in the shuffle.
"I am quite curious though what the big deal with Mr. Bean is?"
What are you, stupid?
And of course we know Bean will star in Silent Hill. Not only will this be the first successful videogame to film conversion, but it will definately win an Oscar for best picture and has a great shot of being the greatest film of all time.
Over the weekend my friend and I were discussing Mr. Bean again. We wondered if Sean Bean were to write a song, what song would it be? Well, you know that Tenacious-D song, "Tribute?" We're pretty sure the song they are doing said tribute to, the "greatest song in the world" is most definately Sean Bean's B-side masterpiece he is soon to unleash.
Also, he can turn gasoline into chocolate, which would be the world's first clean burning fuel. How that came about would take much longer to type than I have here.
I saw "The Weather Man" Saturday night in a nearly deserted theatre (everyone else was watching Saw II) and I'm certain this film will die by the weekend. It's nothing personal, in fact I love it, but it's because it's the antithesis of why people go out to see movies; it's brutally honest and real. The only blemish I felt the film had was the extreme overuse of product placement, to the point where I swore that I'd never buy fast food again. But hopefully they cashed in and at least broke even, the box office won't save them now.
Hell - that's awesome! The Ebert and Roeper show gave a review that made me want to see it more than I already wanted (not stellar, but positive). And since it's November (and there is nothing for adults coming down the pike for MONTHS!) I'll glady see 'The Weather Man'
PS - I realize that I am being ridiculously un-'PC' here, but the trailers and commercials I've seen for 'Rent' - Oy, that flick looks like the gayest movie in years.
That's kind of like that "super size me". That movie wasn't bad, but come on... How many more times can they show that guy going to the SAME fastfood restaurant. It was horrible. And completely obvious what they were trying to do. "hmm, maybe if we show this guy going to _______________'s, everyone will want to eat there" (I refuse to use the name for further advertising). Well I'm sorry, but I'm not buying it. You're clever little ploy fell on deaf ears here, buddy.
