Great 1985 horror comedy cult classic! it's based on HP Lovecraft's book about a medical student who brings the dead back to life with a serum but when a deceased professor is brought back to life, he seeks revenge.
It's sick, funny, sleazy and gory as hell but the performances in this "B" movie in the style of "E.R.", "Evil Dead", "Dead Alive", 'From Dusk Till Dawn", "Day of the Dead", Lucio Fulci and "Cannibal Holocaust" ( Only without animal killing).
Re-Animator is a pretty good flick. The story is not bad itself. Lovecraft just has a nack for that sort of thing. I have a short story comp of his, I think "waking up screaming" or something like that. As with all compilation books, there are some that are bad, most are par, and a few that are just amazing.
BUT... somehow, at some point in time, I stumbled across "re-penetrator". Thinking it would just be some typical "spoof" from cinemax, I watched the trailer... WOW, was it strange, disgusting, and just plain wrong. LOL. Basically it's a hardcore "adult" film, that is somewhat similar to re-animator. But, wow, realy disgusting, if you could only imagine.
I think it's just the point that it's an "adult video"... and yeah, blood and guts aren't generally what you'd associate with that. It may make for an "interesting" viewing in the right setting. It definetly looks campy. But if you're interested you can search for the flick. it has it's own website.
