OK, it's a late 40's or maybe early 1950's movie about a guy who starts killing people around his neighborhood. I think it's like a period piece maybe set in the late 1800's or something like that. But he kills people he knows(I think one is his ladylady or at least a neighbor in his building) and then he writes a book about describing the murders in detail and the police finally question him and he says why would the murderer write about something he really did. So at least for a time they don't believe he really did it. Anyway, if you can think of anything like this old movie please let me know.
No, like I said it was a period piece film set in the late 1800's or so. Kind of like a Jack the Ripper type stuff only set in New York or some big city in the U.S. It was black and white so obviously filmed in the 40's or early 50's. I think it was on Turner Classic Movies or AMC. The guy was a real psycho, killing people just to see if he could get away with it. Interesting movie for an oldie. Thanks for helping me try and figure this out!
It's not 'Children of Paradise' from 1945 is it? Nah... it's not quite the right genre and time reference and not the right plot - if I only knew one character name or actor though...
