Um, aside from the akward title above, I thought this might make a good topic. I for one love to introduce people to a handful of movies:
1. Harold and Maude
2. Dr. Strangelove
3. Cool Hand Luke
4. Arrested Devolpment (tv show, but on dvd, so kinda counts, not really...)
5. Bill Hicks (again, not really a movie, but on dvd...)
There are more, but I find most people haven't seen these films... anyone else care to name a few?
A) Travisty, that's an odd flag, it's like a cross between South Africa, Norway and Quebec
B) Best Movies To Turn Friends Onto
1) 'Eraserhead' - Words cannot describe this nightmarish genius by David Lynch (and like the 'Rocky Horror Picture Show', I won't tell you what it's about, you have to see it for yourself). This IS my favorite film of all time.
2) 'Kicking and Screaming' - First flim by Noah Baumbach (not that Will Ferrell tripe), it's a hysterical film about life just after college with lots of great Indie actors.
3) 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind' - Believe it or not, George Clooney is a great director, this forgotten biopic about Gong Show creator and host(maybe covert CIA operative), Chuck Barris written by Charlie Kaufmann cannot be missed.
4) 'Ichi - The Killer'. Before Asian directors became the new proverbial crack-pipe of Hollywood, Takashi Miike directed a handful of Uber-violent crime/horror flicks, this one is one of his best (akin to 'Audition'). NOTE: Tarantino ripped off A SHIT TON of this guy when making 'Kill Bill'.
5) 'Equilibrium' - Know when you walk into Blockbuster and see a myraid of straight-to-DVD titles? Well, don't pass on this one next time. It's kinda like if '1984' was an action movie, and Christian Bale kicks A LOT of ass in it.
1) a movie generally accepted as extremely good is The big Lebowski, it's kind of a band aid good movie. No matter what kind of movies your friend is into chances are if he or she hasn't seen this movie they will like it.
2) Fear and Loathing- Just an overall fun romp around the block with some crazy metaphorical narrations.
3) TRON- Freakin bad ass
4) The Transformers- If anything else just for the gosh dern sound track there are some bad ass wailing songs on that CD straight out of the 80's.... and then Weird Al..
That flag is actually the Saint Louis city flag. The Fleur-de-Lis in the center represents the French settlers that founded the city. The red and gold colors represent the Spanish who had control of the city during its early years. The wavy lines represent the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!
