A History Of Violence

OK, so since the flick garnered a few Golden Globe noms, I finally decided to see 'A History of Violence'. Todd's review it pretty much on the mark, it's a little David Lynch-esque in parts, but make no mistake there are some trademark Cronenberg bloody money shots (you don't HAVE to see the gory aftermath of a gunshot or a nasty fistfight, but God bless Cronenberg, he puts it in anyway).

It has this nice 'minimalistic - we're trying to make this look like an independent film' look going for it. And it's good, I liked it, but I dunno - I guess I don't see it really being Golden Globe 'Best Picture' good. Eh - I realize I'm roughly 3 months behind on this, but anyone that has seen it have some thoughts?

i saw it roughly 3mos. ago.
i thought that it was good and boring. it's all about this smalltown boring guy who is boring with a family. But then he has been leading a double boring life for the last 20 boring years. thats right, 20yrs of being a smalltown boring guy. But wait- theres more! he's not the smalltown boring guy he told us he was. no, infact, he is a bigcitymob-brother who is boring. so the boring guy has to own-up to which boring guy he really is. he does something about it in a boring way(which was the least boring part of the film, but at this point its too late because the film is almost over). he decides to go on being the boring guy....
if you wanna see a film about a killer who is not boring, then see "TheDevilsRejects" and pay attention to OtisFirefly.

It was a good little flick and the only one Viggo Mortenson didn't annoy me in.

Buffalo?!

A) You want good Viggo flick, check out 'Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw III'

B) I loved the 'Pegs, but what can I say? I can't live in the past, and I can't love Phoenix. So, I gotta revert back to my hometown (Note: I chose their original cool logo)

A.) seen it, he still annoyed me.

B.) But Gretzky is behind the bench in Phoenix, give em a chance.

C.) True about the old logo, why they decided to put a satanic Buffalo on their new jerseys are beyond me.

I've been to Buffalo, and funny thing is I never actually saw any buffalo or bison (as they are termed in Canada).

But yes, the logo is cool.  I like the crossed sabres.

A history of violence :
OK movie, could have been better. The second sex scene (stairs) was so cliché it was ridiculous. Good idea to show us how violence is 'contaminating' the family but just when things get interesting aragorn goes solo kills the bad guys, the end. I wish there had been more character moments instead of action.
I also read the comic book it was adapted from, they're barely related. There's no 'philosophical' standpoint about violence in the book it's just a regular crime story, not even a great one.
Anyway, the movie's more a missed opportunity than anything else but it's watchable and it's understandable too which is probably why critics loved it so damn much.
