So did you ever hear about some movie or other that sounded GREAT and the 25 word plot summary was clever and then you see the movie and go...Wha happeen?
DISH TV just re-aired '3000 miles to Graceland' and I was thinking that very thing. Great plot--dress up like Elvis to rob a casino during an Elvis convention. Great cast--and Kurt Russel acting like Elvis always makes me happy [Kurt Russel doing just about anything makes me happy]. And then I got like past the credits [what's UP with the fighting scorpians?] and everything went horribly horribly wrong.
I would also put "The Ninth Gate" in this category, although to be fair, I really had to get much farther into that film before getting completely ticked off.
Anyone else out there have any warnings so I can delete some items out of my Netflix Que?
Bingo! The concept to '3000 Miles to Graceland' was perfect - the movie... ugh. I read though, that Kurt Russell wanted it to be more comedic, while Costner wanted a more dramatic film. One or the other would have been fine, the amalgam sucked.
'The Ninth Gate' (which I saw for the first time last week) was pretty much Johnny Depp reading books throughout Europe - hah?
I am sure that you've probably seen these, but -
'1941' - Spielberg. Zemeckis. Belushi. Ackroyd. A 2 1/2 'comedy' about a supposed Japanese attack on L.A. It's not terrible, but it's certainly not great either.
'Dreamcatcher' - Morgan Freeman as a bad guy? Score? Written and directed by the guy that wrote 'Empire Strikes Back' and Silverado'? Awesome! It's Stephen King + Aliens! How could they screw this up? I think ridiculous storylines and annoying characters (sorry, but 12 year old kids aren't gonna become best friends with a retarded kid) made this movie fail.
'Made' - From the creator of 'Swingers' comes Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn as gangster wannabes in NYC. The movie itself simply isn't funny enough, and Vince Vaughn is more irritating than amusing in this one.
'Daylight' - It's 'Die Hard' in the Holland Tunnel! Turns out it isn't so much like 'Die Hard' or 'Speed' as it is a boring Irwin Allen flick from the 70s. Stallone isn't bad, but the film is just dull.
