by far the best dreamworks flick so far. all the others have been cheaply done but they must have hired someone else to be in charge this time around. story's predictable of course, but the animation and characters actually had a whole lot of substance and subtlety. nice to see that they're doing better instead of worse. that madagascar was a load of crap, but if you liked shrek (1st, not 2nd one..) you'll definitely love this

I usually dislike the Dreamworks computer-animated films. They pale in comparison with the Pixar films. Shrek and Madagascar both had parts that dated the movies while Pixar movies generally do not. However, in Over the Hedge, Dreamworks went with Pixar and left out a ton of references that would date the movie. It still had some (Dr. Phil) but it didn't rely on it so heavily for jokes, letting the characters and humor of the situation shine. I loved this movie; it was cute and poked fun at suburbia (it's funnier if you see it in a suburban area, the parents won't laugh at some of the jokes^^). I think Over the Hedge will be better than Pixar's new movie. Cars just doesn't look that interesting compared to the previous films.
