And I gotta disagree with Todd on this one, I really liked of it. The eerie music, the cool cinematography, the violent special effects, what's not to like? Besides, (metaphorically speaking) West Virginia is Hell! Brilliant!!
Eh, it was ok. It would have been better at the end if it showed the cop lady dead on the road or something that reinforced the fact that the girls had all been dead from the beginning. I don't know if that would have made the ending seem too obvious but it was kind of disappointing at the end and most of the people in the theater had confused faces. If you took out that whole ending though, the movie is so much better.
That's pretty much how I felt about it. I absolutely loved 80% of that movie. It's just the last 20% was kinda like.... WTF?
I thought having played the games I would've had a slight advantage but I'll admit it, I was pretty much just as confused as everyone else when I was walking out the first time I saw it.
I'm sort of big on remakes being atleast partialy close to the original. Especially when it comes to a game into a movie. Resident Evil was OK, but was really more of just a "zombie" movie then a RE movie. I thought it would've been interested if she would've had to figure out the "puzzles" to get differant places.
But as far as SH goes, I'd have to say I was semi impressed, but still mostly disappointed. I did love the transition from "surface" silent hill, to chared underground silent hill. Setting it off with the Alarm, and fade to black.
Oh, and for anyone who's played the game.... How sweet would it be to have 5 or so completely differant endings, depeneding on how the main charecter reacts to certain situations???
Note: This post is primarily to cater to Dante's non-homosexual man-love for Sean Bean.
Why on earth Sean Bean was cast puzzles me (an affluent Englishman residing in Ohio?!?) But The Bean nailed the role with aplomb. Sure, he spent the entire film yelling, "Rose! Rose!" But he could have played Pyramid Head and still garnered at least a Golden Globe out of it.
PS - The director of 'Silent Hill' also did 'Brotherhood of the Wolf' which I HIGHLY recommend.
