What do you mean by that statement? How is Glenn Ford related to Superman or any previous actor that played Superman? George Reeves (TV Superman in 1950's and Affleck's character in "Hollywoodland") and Ford are not related as far as I know.
I'll share my favorite Glenn Ford film in honor of his passing. It's called "Cowboy" with Jack Lemmon. It's a 1958 film. I don't know if it is out on DVD but I used to see it on TV frequently. Lemmon plays a hotel clerk that meets up with trail boss Glenn Ford in Chicago. Ford loses money in a poker game and Lemmon stakes him in exchange for living his dream of becoming a cowboy. This is no "City Slickers" though. Ford and his cowboy crew take advantage of greenhorn Lemmon and make life tough for him. However, Lemmon experiences a metamorphesis on the cattle trail (helped along by a broken hear). By the end of the movie, Lemmon is the hardass cowboy and Ford seems to have softened his heart.
That whole part of the film is lost from my memory. I remember the planet being destroyed and the baby in the rocket. How did that crystal palace get set up in the North Pole? I remember some scenes like the rocket crashing in the cornfield, toddler Clark Kent lifting a couch or something, and teenage Clark running so fast that he kicks up dirt on a back road but I can't remember a scene with Ford.
It's a fun mov-ay with a ton of gratuitous boob-ays. Not as cheesy as Snakes on a Plane and not as classic as Super Troopers but it has it's moments and some pretty funny Germans. Did I mention tons of boob-ays?
