Don't see 'Saw 3' - see THIS!

I have no earthly idea why this wasn't released (nationally) in theaters:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0426459/

'Feast' got a lot of buzz around the smaller film festival circuit, so when it came out on DVD a couple days ago, I thought I would give it a whirl.

Wow! Gory, funny, and thrilling all perfectly intertwined. Moreover, the film foregoes conventional horror movie expectations (i.e: You don't see things coming in both a suspenseful kinda way and character development - or lack thereof).

Remember when I was lauding, 'The Descent' a few months back? Well... it isn't nearly as good as all that - but, it is unbelievably and surprisingly entertaining (especially considering it came from that insipid Affleck/Damon 'Project Greenlight' thingamajig).

See it. C'mon, it's almost Halloween

Is that chick with the mini-saw the big money shot?

The story behind it. So I actually watched the Project Greenlight special that this was a part of. (and to P.G.'s defense battle of shaker hights wasn't horrible). Anyway, I eagerly waited for this to come out, and waited, and waited, and waited... Well, when the Weinstein's split from mirimax they decided to keep this one. I'm guessing cause mirimax/dimension didn't think it would amount to anything. From IMDB it shows the budgett as 3.2 mil, but most of the movie was shot under a way smaller budget. They had to up the budget at the last minute to go in and fix/reshoot several scenes. Which ended up costing them more money then had they just let them shoot it right the first time. The "men in charge" figured it would be a flop, so they sat on it for almost 2 years. I'm assuming they figured they should try to make up as much as they could with dvd sales... maybe it'll catch on as an instant cult classic and dvd sales will flurish. Whereas it couldn't generate the press for massive theatre release. especiall years after the project greenlight shows actualy aired. They did release at a few film conventions and festivals... which I'm assuming they used as feelers to see how the dvd release would go.
