Blue Filter Badness

I watched "Pulse" on DVD last night. I should have known better. Besides just being plain bad, the entire thing was shot with those blue filters. The only movie I can think of off-hand that was successful being all bluish and off was "Minority Report". Lately I've been seeing tons of these blue-filter movies (although I can't think of any of them right now, probably because they tend to be bad and so I tend to forget them.) Any thoughts? Anybody wanna post a list of blue filter movies...

Ugh.

I had seen Kairo about a year ago and I liked it but to say I was a bit confused by it would be an understatement. So I was happy to see that they were coming out with an American version to clear up a bit of the confusion. I'm sorry if I offend but usually when a J-horror film is americanized, they dumb it down so it appeals to more people. Not true with this film, if anything, it was even more vague, even with the isolation theme. Overall, complete let down. Go watch Kairo instead, I know it's at some blockbusters and it doesn't have the blue filter effect.

Blue toned movies

"Payback" wasn't bad. And as I've said previously, "Brick" was also blue toned and stellar.

In these two cases, they were trying to do a color version of film noir, which I like but I can also see how it get's annoying after a while.

Dammit! I thought of 'Payback' too at around 4 am last night and forgot to log on - poop!

'The Ring' and 'Ring 2' both utilize the blue filer thing, and its also subtly done in 'The Saint'. Moreover, blue, red, and green filters are used A LOT in 'Se7en' (depending on the sin - I can't remember what color corrosponds to which color filter though).

Also, yes - 'Kairo' is VASTLY superior to 'Pulse' (which is just corny and stupid). The original has this great stark atmopshere and it's more like a nightmare than a horror movie.
