Sorry to do all this serious stuff to everyone, but caught a documentary on these on documentary-awards on PBS last week. (Does that even make sense?) These two are definitely worth watching if you haven't seen them.
Frontline: Age of AIDS

This is, I believe, four hours long, so I don't blame anyone for not watching it on their computer... but caught it back when it was originally shown and it was friggin' awesome. Most Frontline episodes are pretty kick-ass, but I think this one stuck out to the award people because it traces the entire history of AIDS and follows not only its social effects, but the scientific side of stuff.
Baghdad ER
Last year's HBO documentary. Definitely squirm-inducing, not for the weak- stomached or weak-hearted, and only one hour. No matter which side of the fence you're on, or whether you're riding the damn thing, definitely some food and images for thought...
