Hey, its better than a movie.
I don't know if anyone is familiar with the controversial exhibit touring museums known as Body Worlds, but it's been in Dallas for a little bit and tonight I went to check it out. It is one of the most stunning things I have ever seen in my entire life. No shit. No exaggeration and it isn't a reaction to something new.
Body Worlds is a massive exhibit, where real human bodies are cut up, manipulated, and plasterized and put on display. They aren't behind glass or anything like that either, it is right fucking in front of you. There are several different bodies, each dissected and manipulated to show a different part of the body. The skeleton, the nervous system, muscular structure. All posed doing different things, running, dancing, shooting basketball, there was even a body riding a real horse corpse, which had also had its skin removed. The structure was massive. There is even a coned off section of the exhibit, some people just dont find it appropriate, but there are several actual dead fetuses. There is even a woman who died in pregnancy, 8 months in, opened up so you can still see the baby inside of her. There was a structure where the body was holding a ciggarrette, and i was opened up so his black lungs were exposed. There were organs with cancer on display. Brains that had hemorages, strokes, etc. All different types of tumors and cancers. All plasterised and right in front of your face. Some bodies were cut up into paper thin sheets, and those sheets where hanging from the ceiling, hundreds of sheets from one corpse.
Here are some pictures which IN NO WAY do justice to the presentation, layout, and just overall feeling of being in that exhibit. I wish they would let you take cameras in, these pictures just don't do justice. Travel if you have to see this thing. It's one of the best experiences I've ever had.
