This kinda looked interesting but then the reviewers panned it. Without going into the plot too much, can you expound on WHY it was so good?

Well, it was far from "panned" by critics (66% positive at RT.) I dunno, every performance was solid but I think the trailer does a little too much to play up the campy aspect. It really isn't. The story is really solid and unexpectedly moving, especially towards the end. Jackson and Christina's characters are polar opposites and play off eachother so well the entire movie its great to watch them change and grow. It's wonderfully directed, and as you could infer, the soundtrack aint half bad either.
