Awful, as you probably expect. Never saw the first. Hate all superhero movies (sans Batman Begins) with a fury. Forced to see this one for work. Yea, this review is biased, but its one of the worst movies ever.

Oh, and if you're an uber fan who is going to see it if only for the Stan Lee cameo, that sucked too.

Just for the record Stan Lee has got to be the worst cameo actor in history. Ive never seen anyone, within the 1-2 seconds of screen time he has in the whole movie, do such a terrible job. He might as well carry a sign in the movie that says "hey look at me! Im the schmuck who owns this franchise and I have so many fans drooling to see me waste space in this flick so I think I'll do a "cute" little cameo, never mind that my shitty acting is totally ruining the flow of the movie. "

And talk about hammy. At least when Hitchcock did cameos he was discreet. Stan's cameos practically scream "HEy its ME look at ME did you see ME?!!" I can just picture him torturing his friends going through every marvel DVD like "There I am! I had lines in this one! Like the Mailman suit? The cap was my idea actually. Ooh I remember this scene; we had to do twenty-eight takes cuz Sam kept saying I didn't look convincingly concerned enough about the lady who's life Im supposed to save. What was her name btw? Keep forgetting. She made great biscuits though."

Note to Stan: go home and play with your Captain America Pez Dispensers and Juggernaut Dildo and stay off the set!

...that's one way of putting it, but sheesh, slow down turbo. It isn't like it made this shitty movie any worse.

Hold on a sec - this movie, this movie made nearly 60 million this weekend - WTF?! How is this possible, when everyone in the free world claims it's horrible? This is a terrible yardstick to measure our society...

Since it's not a cameo, how about an analysis from Senor Anonymous on Stan Lee's integral role in "Mallrats"?

Thank you, Dante, for letting me know about Stan in this instance...the BF is bugging me about it, and that seems to be his main impetus for wanting to see it. Now I have some evidence!

Regarding "Mallrats", he was least annoying there, for some reason. Maybe because in these slick, CGI serious-in-tone superhero flicks, his attitude is jarring and really breaks the flow. "Mallrats", being a comedy, his cheesiness isn't as distracting.

Ok being the resident ex-"Gay for Comics" guy, let me shed some light on the psyche of the common comic book fan.

1. If there is a chance to see comic book characters moving and actually talking it is not to be turned up, especially if it gives you a chance to lord your encyclopedic comic book knowledge over all else who attend.

2. Stan Lee is above reproach, they know his cameos are terrible, they know he can't act his way out of a paper bag, but they don't care. Half the reason why they like him is his cheese factor, his characters dripped with it when he was writing books back in the 1850s and nothing has changed. His catch phrase is "Excelsior!" for christ sake.

3. The reason this movie in particular did so well is because of the Silver Surfer... Even I, a person that went to 3 years of twelve step programs to get my local comic shop to get rid of my box, is pulled in by the Siren call that is the Silver Surfer's badassness.

Long story short, it doesn't matter if the movie is terrible, in fact that may be better. Comic book fans are soo meticulously critical picking apart a bad comic book movie is just as fun as watching a genuinely good one.
