I am dying to see both of these flicks, but they've both been dancing around in limited release for a bit. If you're one of the lucky, impressions?

Sunshine was only in 10 theaters this past weekend, but will expand to 400 on Friday, which is when the wife and I will most likely see it.

Not terribly interested in Rescue Dawn - sure, I like Bale, but meh on the rest of it, especially since the outcome is already known.

Just watched a torrent of Sunshine and I have to say tOdd was super generous in his review.

It didn't look as cool as I was expecting. Too much hype I think but it looked like a lot of other space movies I have seen. Except maybe the view of the sun. I didn't see what the big deal was with the way it looked.

A lot of it just didn't make any sense. It was a mess. It took me a while to figure out what was happening at the end. I didn't really know where they were at first.

I have to say I hated it.

You did yourself a disservice watching it on a computer screen. It NEEDS to be seen in a theater, and it kicks ass there.

Yes, the film takes a bad, bad turn at the end, but the rest of it is pretty damn cool. I still highly recommend it despite the retardedness.

ETA: Just read tOdd's review and I agree with it 100%.

I burned it and watched it on a 42" flatscreen TV.

Believe me, if it was awesome, this TV would have shown that.

:P

First off Bump bump bump....

Second on the agenda is....

Just got finished watching this movie from a crappy hand held version of TV links and I liked it despite not having those magnificent shots people talk about. The movie's concept has been done before several times, however it didn't seem to bother me that much since the movie, I think, was pretty well done. The most interesting character was the dude from the fantastic four (don't know his name) I liked how he walked the line of being a douchebag but not alienating the viewer. All in all I'd say it was a 7.5 out of 10 and worth the buy if you have a big HD tv and are mildly into space/sci fi movies.

Has anybody seen Inland Empire? Read very mixed reviews on it, but tend to like David Lynch movies...

Regarding Inland Empire. Cannot recommend. The first hour is comprehensible, after that I don't know what the fuck happened during the next two hours. The movie left me feeling all sorta dirty and gross, but because, like I said, I don't know what the fuck was actually happening, I can't really attach that dirty, gross feeling to anything solid.

You want weird? You want gross? You want disturbing?

I came across this a couple weeks ago - I won't lie to you, it's given me nightmares. (If you want the full effect, watch it very late, with the volume up, in a dark room - enjoy!)
