Nobody's nailed the concept of the game into the movie.
Mario Brothers, bad
Double Dragon, very bad
Tomb Raider, ok, but didn't follow Lara Crofts character at all
Street Fighter, aside of names of characters, had nothing to do with the game.
Ninja Turtles, the only game that translated well to a movie, but, then again it was a toon before it was a game.
Resident Evil, was neat, and a build up to the opening of the game. Nothing more
Silent Hill? Was not interested in it after RE.
What was wrong with Mario Brothers movie, i loved it personally, I liked Mortal kombat the movie, I'm not saying their like master crafted films, but if i never saw them before and they were playing in theatres right now, I'd rather spend 10 bucks watching them than a lot of crap playing in cinemassss currently.
I wonder what a Legend of Zelda movie would be like?
What about "Mortal Kombat?" It seems to me that the people who played the game were thrilled by the movies because they added depth to the characters of the game.
Admittedly, the game is all too simplistic so it would be difficult to make a movie that violated any established canon. I think the movies were a win-win situation ... a FLAWLESS VICTORY, as it were.
Good point, Mortal Kombat did do well, and I was one of millions of nerds that went to see them in theater. But, re-watching the flicks now, they pretty much suck.
A Legend of Zelda movie could be neat, if Hollywood doesn't butcher the plot, or make Elija Wood play as Link. (shudders)
