Sooner or later we're gonna go all Electrical, you see movie rental places starting this all ready. I think that this may be the last physical media war we have, moving to an Electrical format war that wont matter much because you can just download a different codec instead of buying a new machine. Hopefully moving away from the physical disc will drop the prices also since there won't be near as much over head.
Keep on eye on the Porn Industry (and this isn't my theory, I actually read this in legitimate periodicals). Back in the 80s, we had a similar format war between Beta & VHS - and the porno business just up and decided 'We're goin' VHS!' And the rest is history.
Don't think they got the clout? Consider. For the last couple years, the worldwide revenues of the porn industry were anywhere between 70 and 90 billion dollars. Legitimate film? Half that.
