Read the book first if you ain't done it yet. Probably not worth spoiling the book by seeing the flick...

And I always thought Misery was a good book to movie thingee...

Silence of the lambs was a way better movie than book.

I heard the author of Into the Wild on NPR. Have to pick up that book...

High Fidelity and Wonder Boys come to mind.

I liked the movie; it was decently scary. However the short story was super freaky and, reading it again after seeing the movie, it wouldn't have been that hard to have put more from the story into the movie.

I read the book Seven Years in Tibet.  I also saw the movie.  I enjoyed both.

Although abysmal in its own right, the movie adaptation of "Running With Scissors" was far better than the overhyped source material.

I also like Apocalypse Now better than "Heart of Darkness."

Read the book over the last two days. Pretty kick=ass. A lot of directions to go from the source material. (Kinda freaked me out, the part with him out in the Arizona desert and the winter hippy town. Will be interesting to see Penn pull that off. Maybe I'm naive, but I guess I cannot picture being rootless like that.)

Also, the chapters with the author climbing "Devil's Thumb" were pretty awesome. I'm sorta assuming they cut that out... but maybe not.

Dirk, you should check out "Eiger Dreams" and definitely "Into Thin Air" if you really
liked those Devil's Thumb chapters--it's what got me reading the rest of his books.
"Under the Banner of Heaven", of course, is totally different subject manner, but I
loved his style so much that I was curious to read it. Quite interesting.

Also, if you see the film and like it, you might like "Touching the Void":

I actually did check out Touching the Void, but now I want to rewatch it on the new HD.

Will check out Into Thin Air.
