I just watched the play on youtube last night, and it was VERY good. Alittle tacky, but those were the times. Anyways I look at this movie and I see that because it's "Johhny Depp" as sweeney a certain bit of sadness fills the role, where as in the play everyone knows sweeneys a bad bad man. Why the difference in roal change? From ruthless murderer, to Cutesy boy that wants revenge? Totally confised on that one.
I'm usually a go for both... but this one I just don't know... the scene where he was walking about in the crowd didn't do it for me. And as for musicals wasn't Willy Wonka kind of one?
Yeah, but Sweeny Todd is being based off the musical rather than the real life events.
It's like the new Hairspray and Producers movies where they are adaptions of the broadway musicals rather than the original movies.
