Have you not gotten into the threads on IMDB yet? Peas-and-rice! There's a whole boatload of speculation going on over there. There are a lot of interesting pro-Godzilla arguments/theories, like all of the Japan references in that trailer.
However...
J.J. Abrams is making me annoyed at him. I've been getting weekly briefings on each new thing he's doing to fuck up the "Star Trek" movie. I'm also not happy with "Lost" and its over-playedness. Now, I stuck with that show for two seasons, and I thought it was time to start wrapping stuff up before Abrams pulled a David Lynch and got bored with it. I think he got bored, and that's why things flew in so many different directions.
So all this suspense, when they set it up SO FAR in advance, and if it turns out to be Godzilla, is kind of pointless to me. Yeah, I was mad at the treatment it got in that hideous '98 version---only good thing to come out of that was the Foo Fighters' cover of "Baker Street". But all that buildup and hype and secrecy over another remake? I dunno.
You should go check that message board out if you haven't.
I'm sorry but I hate when people actually think JJ actually is in charge of LOST. He is not. He directed the pilot and thats it. People need to not credit him with such an awesome show.
It still looks cool to me - I think it's the handheld that has me curious, especially if the whole thing is shot like that.
One thing I don't get is its banishment to a January release - we all know what that means. All this silly marketing and they don't want to go with a holiday release, or summer? Hmmmmm.
Ahh Voltron is just one of those things from "back in the day". Simple plots awesome ideas perfect for an 5 year old that loves robots (me). It boils down to these simple steps:
- Life is peachy
- Bad Guys come
- Voltron Lions kick their ass
- Big bad guy shows up
- Voltron lions make Voltron
- BBG has Voltron on the ropes
- The bad ass sword comes out and it's all over BBG gets cut in half
Perfection. If this is indeed a remake, I think it has the potential to be the best one since it's trying to make it on it's own merits rather then plastering its name over everything and anything. That just means they may be putting a little bit more thought into it, and not necessarily that it's a sure fire winner. I wouldn't be against just an old concept redone not an 70's or 80's franchise revisited, maybe make a new monster to ravage NY...
I was messing around some corner of e web and saw a picture labeled "Cloverfield monster" and thought it was cool and saved it before I new what tis movie was. If you want me to spoil it I can tell you exactly what it looks like.
I'm guessing it's a Ghost Busters spin off, with Mr. Staypuff rampaging about... how close am I. O and just to eliminate any kind of abreviated name confusion TK was not me, just in case anybody thought that.
Yeah... I caught this earlier today. Umm... if it's indeed a monster flick (and not rank in it's terribleness like 'Godzilla') then sure, I'm on board!
However, the shaky 'handi-cam' deal may annoy me - dammit.
