Okay, technically this is a very VERY expensive comerical for pricey wine. BUT - good 'ol Marty found an old never-before-seen script of Hitchcock's - and shot all three pages of it. It REALLY looks exactly like an old Hitchcock movie:
You must have been kind of sleepy when you posted this...you do know that's not from a "found" script, right (please don't think I'm going all film-snobby on you)?
That was really, really neat though. Loves me some Freixenet! And some Hitchcock. Perfect! We just got HD satellite put in, and I'm eating up that Mark Cuban channel with a big spoon. Every other day it's wall-to-wall Hitch on there. Just gorgeous.
BD - Indeed, I was drunk and tired when I posted of that. I was simply too lazy to present all the exposition correctly (Wow, I can't believe I got called on it so fast).
Yes, Marc, I was being delicate there and trying to think of a nice euphemism for inebriated...but, no, it's really a cool ad. I love Marty to bits and I'm glad you posted it.
Also, your avatar remined me, I saw "Hollywoodland" not long ago, and decided Benaffleck isn't as despicable as I thought. So, "Reindeer Games"...worth it? I'm never, ever going to witness "Gigli", so what else might you recommend?
Yes, 'Reindeer Games' is indeed a dark horse - mostly because it came and went to very, very quickly in the theaters. Back when Affleck was a bankable star (and Charlize had no problem with nudity) they made this little treasure. Frankly, I like these crime/mob/thriller 'caper-gone-wrong' type of movies. The basic premise is a bunch of thugs dressed up as Santa Claus try to knock over an Indian Casino in Northern Canada - and not everything goes as planned. I like 'Reindeer Games' because virtually everything that happens is so unplausible, it actually makes the film that more entertaining. You think to yourself, "These guys can't be that stupid" or "The twist ending really isn't what I think it is". You won't find another flick where half a dozen Santas get gunned down in cold blood. Ho Ho Ho ! Happy Birthday Jesus!
Oh, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I own 'Paycheck' on DVD (Okay - how much credibility have I lost here?)
Criminy...all you actually had to say was "John Frankenheimer" and that would have done it for me! That's a clincher, so it's going in the Netflix queue. Thanks!
I love that one! I saw that earlier this year. I had the tv muted and was doing something else, and looked up and saw the opening sequence and knew immediately I wanted to check that one out. Plus I love Richard Harris, so there ya go.
BD - the opening sequence is AWESOME! I first saw that flick as a 'late show' when I was like 12 or something, gave me chills. I'm so happy someone else has seen of it (I've also seen 'Seconds' as well)
