I was excited about this movie the minute Gary Oldman turned over the Joker card in the last one. Too bad about Heath Ledger. He's going to remake the Joker into the really dark psychologically depraved character he was meant to be.
Not really. Nickleson stunk. The problem was the outlandish makeup (Burton, who never read a Batman comic, flunking up the movie again) that he wore. By Nicklesn's own admission, he saw himself in the makeup and allowed the makeup to do the acting. His Joker was pathetic. I actually think Cesar Romero did better.
Man, The Shining has ruined every other Nicholson movie for me. I kept waiting for him to chop up Diane Keaton in Something's Gotta Give and go crazy in About Schmidt. Although, it would have made the movies more interesting.
