I watched The Eye (japanese version) the other night and I thought it sucked. It seems like alot of these movies are just long corridors with people standing at the end. Or scary white faces making weird noises. Like The Grudge or whatever. Plus they don't make much sense...?

Are there any good ones out there?

I was going to watch The Eye, because of that remake coming out, but all my local store had was The Eye 2, so I watched that, which from my understanding doesn't have a lot in common with the first one. I sorta liked it.


Audition gets a lot of talk, but its quite boring until the last 20 minutes or so.

Three Extremes is actually pretty good, particularly the last segment.

Also could recommend the "Imprint" episode of Master's of Horror from Showtime. Billy Drago's acting is atrocious but the set-piece of torture is unbelievable.

Also, not really horror, but Ichi the Killer is a bizarro must see.

A really campy Japanese Horror flick is called Uzumaki, it's got a sense of humor too.. O and also the Happiness of the Katakuris is a good one too.

I just noticed that Smirk mentioned Ichi the killer, I think that's by Takashi Miike (sp) he also did happiness of the katakuris I think... I would check IMDB but I'm trying to keep all the internet surfing to only the necessities at work...

Gozu is weird too. That's also by him. Actually, come to think of it, several of those movies I mentioned are by him.

The Eye was from Hong Kong, not Japan.
