I did want to mention this one particular scene in the movie. It was at times intensely violent but this one scene stuck out, I've thought about it a few times since I left the theater.
Colin Farrell is roughing up this druggie/informant in his apartment. The guy's whole family is there and he's clearly holding out on him. So he goes up to his wife holding this newborn baby and punches her right in the face and takes the infant as she falls to the floor. Then he lays the infant down on an ironing board and dangles this hot steaming iron up and down over it's face until he squeels. The baby was legit too, not just some lump wrapped up in a blanket you can't see.
I dunno why, but that was a real gut punch for me. I liked it. |
