Recently read an article that the concept falls flat. Think about it. Female character forced to undergo her old fashioned duties, but truly wants to be "one of the boys".
Well, yeah, exactly. That whole concept is so eye-rollingly tired. I expected much better from Pixar.
I will say that I've read several places that the trailer does not do justice to the movie, and most of the plot is kept pretty under wraps. Everything we've seen (supposedly) takes place in the first half hour or so.
No matter how the movie turns out, you have to be impressed how the hair looks. Why am I obsessed with the hair, when the incredibles came out it took over 10 computers and hundreds of hours to get the hair to work correctly on the characters. Now look at how impressive and how far animation has come.
Bummed about this. I wasn't even crazy about Up... On the rewatch its almost where the transition happened for Pixar's slide. Starts off whimsical and touching. Ended up focused on talking dogs flying planes.
I'll probably still go and see this, but the fact of the matter is that these human stories need to be deeper. There are many mediums out now that portray girls/women in empowerment roles.
Why do I have a feeling that some exec from Disney is the cause of this.
