Good for you! Let this cat's body get rid of the gunk - there are some natural type antibiotics that will not hurt your cat and you were right to get him off the regular antibiotics and pred as it obviously will do more harm in my opinion. Your cat did not get this way overnight and you might see if you could locate a holistic type vet in your area-you can find them in the sidebar of the altvetmed website and work with them to get your cat healthy again. At this point I would say that if cat is still eating well and seeming more healthy, that is a very good sign. Hang in there, it should get better. I would not under any circumstances vaccinate this cat - vaccines are supposed to be given to healthy animals only and your cat cannot be considered healthy by any responsible vet. There is a book you can get called The Nature of Animal Healing by Martin Goldstein DVM that talks about dogs and cats and what he has found in his practice of over 25 years. I have personally met him and attended several of his talks, and he has some very good information in his book. I can't say that I agree with everything that he says, but that is ok too. What he says about the illness of animals now a days, I think is right on to a great degree. Good luck with your cat.
