Response to shepard w/ pancreatic insffiency

Hello Don, a friend of mine a few years ago with a young shepherd with the same condition used raw pig pancreas in the diet to help. Approached local small meatworks and asked them to keep any pig pancreas when slaughtering, and to freeze it asap after killing to keep enzymes from degrading too much. Then used some of that in the diet. (its not a nice meat but the dog got used to eating it too)
Also fed 1/3rd raw meat, 1/3rd brown rice etc, 1/3rd raw & cooked vegies and used safflower oil for fat content added too. Previously dog had been on supermarket pet roll and bikkies, and very thin. Dog put in good condition and was then able to maintain its weight and activity levels.

Hope this helps, Rachel
